Gym contracts are fairly open to discussion - especially if there is competition in the area. You can usually avoid paying the joining fee too.
Gyms work on the principle that:
- During the first 2-3 months you will go 4-6 times a week.
- During the 3-9 months you will go 1-3 times a week (max)
- During the last 3 months you will probably not go.
They basically want to tie you into a 12 month contract and make the most of the time where you are not there.
To them it's a numbers game - like car salesman they have figures to meet, so just play the same game you would from a stealer.
