I presume that's 3 mobile broadband? If so, then yes, area makes a big difference as it depends what the cell you're in is capable of.

Middle of London you'll probably do well with 3G+ (or whatever it's called this week). Middle of the sticks, probably lucky to get a signal and hence be slow.

thats with skys meduim 8meg package and the highest i've tested it too

actually it would be quite funny to ring them up and ask for better speeds, i wont get them but i would enjoy the "listen mate, i have just logged onto upstairs unsecured wireless network and now my speeds are much higher then yours"
