I don't think people realise the spec D is just an STI dressed like a WRX SL. Mechanically it can do everything the standard STI can.

Mine is now a discreeter spec D. I'll post some photos once I have my prodrive springs fitted, but it will basically look like the JDM STI A-Line (google it). The JDM version of the spec D but with the IMHO lesser 2.0 engine.

At least test drive a 2.5ltr STI before you do. You may still prefer the 2.0ltr but you may regret not trying both.

Absolutely, its foolish not trying each option before you buy mate, you may hate it but you may also love it!

I did drive the new 2.5 impreza, admittedly not an sti, and not a hawkeye, but i was'nt that impressed, and i'm having trouble finding 2.5 sti's in my area (south west) for reasonable money, i think i'm going to go for the wr1, and risk being accused of being gay.

Wasn't a 2.5ltr if it wasn't a hawkeye, not unless the engine had been rebuilt as a 2.5ltr of course... or it was one of those pathetic new hatchbacks which we won't discuss!

Sounds like you have made your decision, so best of luck

Yes it was the new improved ugly hatchback, my missus liked it a lot, but i just could'nt bring myself to buy one, i'm probably going to buy the wr1 today, unless i can find a hawkeye sti, for a good price in the next three hours!
