Really feel for you, but glad to hear that you can give another small person a good home.
My cat (Beavis!) was rescued as a kitten, from a ferral litter so he can be a little git at times and we love him all the more for it! He was swiped by a car 18 months ago and I've been so protective of him since. He gets away with murder!

It'll be the best thing.
We lost our 18 year old cat 2 years ago, and got Rosie 1 month later. The house was so quiet without Prussia, and while on the one hand you feel kind of guilty about getting another one so soon, we couldn't bear not having one around. It's weird getting used to a new personality, and I'm sure Fred will be very happy and spoilt with you.

It makes me feel sorry to hear of all those poor cats who have died or been killed somehow.
Fred arrived last night and within ten minutes was sitting on my lap and purring away in sheer delight
He is a big cat and does a good job of keeping my knees warm. He is a hit with Mrs Leslie and he follows her around the house, in hopes of more food probably. I reckon that when he is allowed into the garden next week, the rats will go stiff with fear when they see him for the first time
We discovered last night that he tends to enjoy sitting on your head when you are in bed!
He is a lovely cat and a fitting heir to Floyd's kingdom.

That's really good to hear Leslie. At the moment it's just your head he's sleeping on, next he'll be in the middle of the two of you, stretching his legs out. I can never understand how something much smaller than a human, can take up so much space!

Stretching the entire body out don't you mean?!!
I can't believe how much bed space ours can take up and then they look at us as if to say 'what are you doing here?!'!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad Fred is settling in so quickly Les
Be careful though, don't give too much control of your kingdom
After my Sister's cat passed away (diabetes) she got two kittens from Big G from here, and they have taken over and got pretty big now
Is he a local cat Les ? might have to be careful when you do let him out so he knows where to come back to
An old wives tale is to put butter on the paws so they can leave a scent to come back to

Hi Les,
Thank you for your comments on my post.
I know how you must feel , today has een terribly difficult for me let alone mrs chop. A non cat owner will never understand the pain of losing one.
All the best,
chop

We were told to let him out first time feeling a bit hungry so he will be tempted back in for something to eat. There is nothing wrong with his appetite either!
Mrs Leslie is a much happier person again
Thanks Chop, what you say is absolutely right. Hope you find the right one to take your cat's place soon. It is the best medicine we have found.
Les
