I have to Agree with E.F. The classics do have some serious stigma attached.. One reason I want a Newage; People look at me like I'm some kind of C**T! Now I'm not saying I'm not a C**T but I dont really want it broadcasted

Sad but true I'm afraid. Even newages get a bad rep off the classics, due to a few morons who can now sadly afford them.

What an incredibly mean and stupid comment, from what I can only assume is a bitter and lonely individual. Nice car, enjoy it!

Aye oop,the calvary have arrived
As the biggest UK Subaru Internet forum.Shouldn't the serious enthusiasts on here voice their opinions just a little bit louder on some of the more 'chavvier' threads posted?
Now I'm being serious here(and nothing at all directed at the OP)
It's high time that something was done to Improve the Impeza's image, but what?...and I really ain't a car snob or a troll any of the other names I've been called.
..but I'm on my 5th Subaru and the sad fact is that I feel embarrassed to be seen driving my latest one, probably due in part to spending too much time on here

I find that a strange comment from someone who owns a classic - even from someone who is selling theirs?
I have had a classic for 4 years, and I never think that. Yes, some are not to my style but that doesn't make them a 'C**T'??
I could afford a newage but I don't like the look of them, or the extra weight blunting performance.
Elmer,
your old classic was/is? one of the best. Don't tar all classic drivers with your large 'brush' - just because you drive a classic doesn't instantly make you a chav/ned/tw*t/whatever.

i'm a member on a couple of other make/model forums and i dont hear anyone slating subaru drivers (whatever year there car was made) the only people i hear slating subaru drivers are other subaru drivers, weird.

i think at the end of the day people are allowed opinions, regarless of what others think of that opinion.
incidentally, i happen to think (others agree) that elmer is a hypocritical car snob.
he owned a classic (regardless of how nice it look - still a classic), yet when he owns something newer and spanglier, its suddenly cheap import crap. one thinks he has a mighty chip on his shoulder. i dare say hes worked hard to afford the nice clean example he owns now, but why such an attitude towards others on here???
just my tuppence, but i wont let one mans opinion derive me from the smile my impreza gives me every time i take her out
all ive got to say on the matter

I see lots of people in Classics driving like compelete and utter spack-tards and most have insanely loud exhausts and look like they have been created by god just to **** people off

A higher chance than if someone is driving a newage - hmm, I suppose.
I don't see many really around my neck of the woods. I saw a classic a while ago with a quite hideous bodykit, and just thought - 'hmmmmm, that doesn't look good'. Perhaps I am mellowing in my old age

All I can say is that I will be buying a classic again. It may well be over 10 years old so A) its cheaper to register (STI RA) and B) I can insure it under classic insurance.
Good classics will become like the 205 (for instance) has become today. There was a time when people bought them and made them look awful. Those cars have gone and the nice, clean, straight, unbuggered examples are a joy to see.
Whether people think I'm a **** for driving my car is their problem. Whether people think I'm a **** for wanting an old car - its their problem (the other car I'm considering is a Lancia Delta which is even older and more poorly built than any scoob you will ever see)
If anyone should be embarrassed its the people on scoobynet slagging other owners. Whats your problem? so much for the family feeling you used to get with owning an Impreza.

You're not wrong about the go-cart thing. When I drove it, I twitched the wheel and nearly crashed into parked cars it was so responsive!
Think it was X Reg - as in 1982 X
