Yes you're stuffed.
A cheaper option would be to buy the EP35 and buy a new amp with 5.1 analogue inputs.
This is a run out model but about half the price of this years entry model.
Denon AVR1306
EP30 + Onkyo = £600
EP35+ Denon1306 = £400

Lee - am just about to go to bed, but thanks for the explanation, I really appreciate it. Have bookmarked this thread (can't search now ) and will sit down with both TV and DVD spec sheets to try to understand it. One thing is, I assume (!) that as both are samsung, they should be quite compatible.
