As already mentioned Cats do what they like when they like.

My daughters cat adores her, she cant play hide and seek with her friends when she is out as the cat follows her and sits next to where she is hiding (Spot the cat= find the girl)

If she goes into a friends house we know which one she is in as the cat is sat outside waiting for her.

Barmy but cute.

It lets us know if it fancies going out, head out the door, quick sniff, naah back on a pillow in the dining room.

I was never a Cat person until i got my daughter hers and i'm now converted as they are very intelligent and loving.

Not entirely correct here. Grey squirrels are not a native species of the UK, red ones are and the grey ones are killing them off. I've also not known of cats eating reptiles either! I know my cats like fish, but I've never seen them with a fishing rod
IMHO I would say that rats and pigeons are a far greater vermin pest than cats!

Then you would be arrested. If a cat was on a neighbours garden they would be in their rights to capture the wild animal and take it to a rescue centre as the law stands.
If they captured it to sell then that would be theft if you could prove ownership but even this is grey in law.
Capture it to release elsewhere has also never been tested as far as the councill layers have told us.

This whole area is very near to getting tested in the courts but something cannot be classed as an owned pet and wild at the same time. If we can get them classed as domestic pets that would be a major step forward for us as the problem home owners could then be taken to task under local bylaws the same a dogs and poultry.

Approx. 275million kills a year of which 55million are birds according to the RSPB.
Domestic cats also prevent nesting, feeding and cause stress amongst the bird population, RSPB are conducting further studies to try and calculate the full impact.

As for fish, yes I've seen cat's fishing at my pond and my neighbour has witnesed a kill. I know have an electric fence and cctv on the pond.
They will paw at the water when the fish are near the top, I also have a couple of damaged koi. Some cats hate water and wont go near the pond but others do.

Cheers
