Bottom Gear....

Top grade, semi car related entertainment. It might have precious little to do with Top Gear as people remember it but tonights show was spot on.
Anyone 40 or less who didn't ever want a Sprint doesn't have oil and petrol coursing through their veins.
Funny all the way through and if I can be bothered to hook my laptop upto a projector and a satellite TV feed it must be quality 'cos I don't bother for much else.

It's no longer a true car show as it was in the 80's, who can remember when Jezza started on TG? I didn't like him at all, thought he was a bit of an ***. Now I know he's an ***, but I'd vote for him to be PM (what does that say about our government?)

Hilarious!
Awesome entertainment as per a previous post I got mildly excited when I saw the dolly sprint, I remember a mate of mine bought one, we were all trundling around in our mk2 escorts and he turned up in one of those and back then it seemed bloody fast!

i enjoyed it, its a strange one , i watched it expecting not to enjoy it, and then you do.
i thought the door falling off was quite funny. and the inner skin staying where it was.

I find TG good all round entertianment, mit is one of the few shows that will get a laugh out me (only other shows being Earl, QI & Buzzcocks) and i look forward to it on a Sunday evening, Me ans Mrs Paul make a point of watching it.
I do not mind that it is not all techy look at the oily bits and play top trumps with the numbers, it makes up for it in many other ways.
I love the chemistry between the three of them and i rate it as bl**dy good and head and shoulders obove 99% of the complete and utter dross on!

I remember the leader of our Boys Brigade group having one of these and we would fight like cats to get a ride in this rather than a maxi. To a ten year old the overdrive switch was the coolest thing on the planet..

OOh! I had a Maxi 1750HL. Bloody lovely motor. Tons of room and a boot the size of Luxembourg. Beauty to drive with luxury motoring suspension. And if you were on a long trip a got a bit tired the seats turned into a perfectly fitted double bed (apart from the handbreak and gear stick).
I also had an Allegro. The scariest car I have ever driven. The only thing that worked was the drivers side window winder. So at least I was able to shout for help as I passed other cars unable to stop. The last time I drove it I was turning right through a set of lights when the front off side wheel collapsed under the car. A brown pants moment.

(thus the old comedy TV gag of someone opening a car door an it falling off; the hinge pins are removed so only the latch holds the door on, when the door is opened, it falls off.).
Other than that, another entertaining episode.

I know. Just that one was far too obvious.
The "remove the door pins" gag is as old as broadcast TV itself.
I also refuse to belive a Dolly Sprint is slower than a Datsun 120y. Either that car was sick or needed a good old fashioned tune-up

I had a Montego GTI and that was a really chuckable old lump, nice torquey engine, just a bit rust prone.

Its not so much of a seriouse car show anymore, but very entertainingy. My misses called me sad cos i said
" I bet thats the 3.5 v8 SD1" only to be repeated by jezza... Then "did you know that was the first production car to have 16valves" only to be repeated seconds later by hammond...
She then pointed out that both cars were older than me, how did i know such stuff.. heheheh
