If it was me in my scoob, i dont think people would be so blase about it!. Im 27 btw!!!

She sounds like one of those stupid people who panick if everything is not the same as it was yesterday, or if she has to think on the fly!!!

People like that should not be in charge of a two tonne vehicle, they cant react quick enough, and neither can the car!!!

Had one in shell the other day, an old woman in an X5, blocked off the whole entrance cos she misjudged the way in and clipped another car, then blamed the other car for parking wrong(he was filling up), then panicked when she tried to reverse it out of trouble, her excuse was she doesnt reverse that often!!!! WTF!!!!!!

It doesnt help that the X5 had tints i would struggle to see out of!!!

And the police and insurance companies think im a risk cos i drive a scoob!!!

Possibly, but for Kev's sake, I hope not.

GC8 definatly mate, a younger driver of a sports car would be damned from the start no doubt.

I think the sentance is fair given the circumstances. It may well have been unfortunate, but its something that, let off with it, could easily happen again.

The papers have made a very short story and given very little detail.
The person I feel MOST sorry for is Kevin's friend, who was driving behind, saw the whole thing and then found his friend laying dead, almost decapitated. HE will live with that for the rest of his life.
Someone he has laughed with, confided in, and spent quality time with, killed in a most brutal manner.

Probein, I would agree it WAS indeed an accident, and in no way implying its premeditated murder. However there are 2 kinds of accident, avoidable, and unavoidable. Mechanical failure would be unavoidable, but a COLLECTION of decisions and actions she made that day resulted in a terrible accident, costing Kevin his life.

1 bad decision, hmmm ok. But choosing to talk on the phone, drive while distressed, doing an illegal u-turn, failing to observe oncoming traffic..... The sentance is more than fair to be honest

Totally agree with that - if she simply had a lapse of concentration and pulled out on him; then I would probably have a bit more sympathy with her as well, after all, I'm pretty sure we've all had little lapses that could have turned out very nasty if not for a big dose of luck - as it stands, she was just doing too many stupid things for me to feel sorry for her.

Glad you guys agree
Its hard to have an opinion without getting over emotional and biased about it.
As I have said in my reply on the newspaper site, if it was my mother who did this, the only thing I would be hoping for is that the jail she was going to was near so I could visit.
Hate to say it but I would expect her to do time, and she is even older and ill.
