Will I miss my RE070's if I change to 18's?

I loved the RE070's on my spec C too. After replacing them twice at great cost I went for PS2s due to good reports on here. I hate them! Not as grippy in the dry or the wet: get understeer on greasy roads which I never had with the 070s.
Given there are a lot of spec C owners on here that like the 070s ... perhaps we could arrange group buy with Litchfields?

Try somewhere like blackcircles.com where 225/45/17 RE070's are 116 quid fully fitted but I know that Iain can get the 235/45/17's possably even the 18 inch ones

Lets have some names for those who would be interested in a group buy/import on 235 17" Bridgestone potenza RE070's.
I will also make enquiries about 235 18" for those interested

I went from RE070's to Pirrelli cupra's and was blown away!! far better tyre, and no way as bad at tramlining, the dry grip was mind blowing, and you can get them in 18's as well.
the litchfield T25 used them as well

I've had both yoko prada spec 2's and Toyo T1R's and they didn't put up a fight compared to the RE070's, agreed the RE's aren't superb in the wet but their out and out performance in the dry and sl;ightly greasy surfaces makes up for anything that they don't fair well in.
I have heard good reports from the Vredenstein Ultrac Sessanta, sounds like they are the ones to go for if thinking about going 18"

The one thing that I would say is that I felt more confident chucking the motor into corners with the Paradas than the toyos, which says it all for me really.

if you value performance above all else then one thing I wouldn't recommend to anyone is moving from 225 RE070 on 17" x 8" (05 STi) wheels to 235 PS2's on the same rims. PS2's are great for cruising on the motorway, but who buys a scooby for that - that's what diesels are for. i'm really annoyed with myself for not splashing out on a set of 18" rims. the superior cushioning, elimination of tramlining and poor weather safety of the PS2 isn't worth the drop in dry weather grip of the RE070 - imho. obviously one solution is to run two sets of wheels with tyres matched to job at hand

Overall I found the parada 2 slightly better than the TR1's, they seemed to fair well in most conditions, maybe as good if not slightly better in the wet than the RE070's but not as good in the dry but what is as good in the dry than the RE's...

Well, before they do:
1. madisonmonkey
2. TX. Note that I might have blagged some nearly new ones
3. Tim Hardisty - depends on price but, in principle, I'm interested
4. spec-cie
BTW I've bought two sets of 235/17's from Iain before and his prices are reasonable but not cheap. Hence I think if we do a group buy he should come down a bit.
BTW again ... I actually have a single new 235/17 in my garage ... don't ask how ... do you think I could get a set of three? No, didn't think so ...
