Don`t tell me some of you are shocked by the lower price ?

Lets face it the car has had some poor write ups from top magazines including Evo mag, on top of that you have a car that looks about as stylish as one of Lawrence Lewellyn Bowens makeovers.

This price drop doesn`t suprise me in the least as they have to do something to shift a few of the mingers.

I agree - word around Banbury is 40 BHP but only £1500 to get a lot more uptake as the development costs have been covered.

Will people please stop talking like an Impreza of any type looks like a bloody Alfa Romeo.. ALL Impreza's are ugly you visually impaired procreator's. (Left pretty much unedited because.. well.. its true.)

This whole thing is so making me very very angry indeed.

Everyone wonders why so many uncultured, lower class oiks, identified by wonky baseball caps and the opinion that Tracksuits are suitable attire for any occassion are driving Imprezas now - its because they think they look "cool", rather than actually know how to drive the bloody things. Now, I'd hate to suggest that haters of the new Impreza are uncultured, lower class oiks, identified by wonky baseball caps and the opinion that Tracksuits are suitable attire for any occassion - but oh deary me, I'd hope that you bought your car on a basis other than what it looked like.. otherwise.. go by a MGF.. or go be a badge lady of ill-repute with a Porsche Boxster or something... because your obviously far more worried about image than performance. (Again, left unedited because its true.)

Shouldn't you all be driving around in GL's with bonnet scoops and spoilers or something? After all, you only obviously give a **** about what it looks like. (Again.. true - they're obviously not interested that this is one of the fastest standard Impreza's ever.. so I can only assume that they have no interest in performance, and in actual fact - only wanted the stick on bits. Come on, tell the truth, your just upset that it hasn't got a big spoiler arn't you?)

*0840 Saturday Morning Edit - Cor, wasn't I angry last night.. Infraction? Okay.. Its now edited to suit the PC brigade although most of it was perfectly true which I'm quite impressed with seeing as I was a little worse for wear when I came in last night.*

Without trying you can have a brand new WRX for £16,995. yet the dealers are still trying to mug people for £20,500.

So now we have to face the fact that not only are the new models boring to look at but they don't work very well either. Both the reports on the STi & WRX in Evo award only three stars (to help you calibrate that's the same as the Pug 207 GTI) and express quite a lot of reservations about the handling of both cars.

My prediction : the new model will be completely replaced in three years.

Face it : It's a dog.

Oh, nearly forgot ......

I saw a photo of the saloon version which they'll be selling in the US (and maybe elsewhere) whilist I was in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago.

It looks even worse than the hatch.

Evo is the only magazine I've seen so far to complain about the handling of the new STI. Plus, Evo are well known to have various opinions on the same car depending on who gets to drive it that day; who knows, the reviewer might be some "hardcore" Subaru fan who thinks the Classic was the summit of Automotive engineering - and decided that they didn't like the car before they even saw one with their own eyes. (not that I'm suggesting any here are like that.. *ahem* )

I like Evo, but given the balance of different opinions, their's is in the minority at the moment. Compare that to the new Civic Type-R, which pretty much every review slated as not being a touch on the EP3.

When I get to drive one, if its crap, then I'll say its crap; until then I'm going to defend it. Either way, your still looking at a £25,000 car that in the hands of a mortal driver can show up almost any supercar thats in the hands of another mortal driver on a B Road. Thats pretty good however you cut it.

The only positive comments I've seen have been made by journalists who were flown out to Japan at the expense of Subaru and got to drive it round a race track there. And if I recall the views expressed in Autocar following that trip, they were not completely thrilled either (though I've thrown the mag out so can't precisely remember what they said).

I'm no fan of rthe new Impreza, but that EVO review has to be taken with a pinch of salt. I mean where in any EVO review previously has the Impreza been marked down because of the qaulity of it's plastics used, he seemed to have a real downer on it from the get go! I feel, when it comes to the UK for review, the rating will be revised to 4 stars in due course.

100% AGREE but the standard spec (£25K) will be missing the 18"'s which I think you'll need IMHO for it to handle well.

I would Imagine the Top spec/ sports pack will be the demonstrators. "IF" the Top spec car is £2k more you'll get a lot more car for your money
