I have a few things I can add.
1. There's no "I" in "Team". I know it's an old saying but it still holds true. Work with your team mates. A team of average players will easily take out a team of poo players with 1 good player.
2. There is always someone better than you. It's hard to admit but there are people better than you/I. If you go into the match thinking you are a God at CS and then get cut down repeatedly, you'll just loose your rag, forget about tactics, get killed more, get more irrate etc etc.
3. Learn a little restriant. Matches are never won by Mr Rambo storming to the opposing teams spawn position alone. Move in units (size depending on the amount of players/objectives)
4. Be aware of your surroundings. Know the likely points of ambush.
5. Following on from point 4. Use the radar! if someones uses the radio their radar position flashes, then if that light suddenly disappears you know that the enemy is at that point on the map.
Likewise, try to remember who of your teammates you are near, that way when it says "LPB killed Kheldar with a headshot" you know that the enemy is waiting for you at the end of that tunnel Steves just run down.
6. Communication, I think most of STi have mic's now. Use them! keep the chit chat down whilst playing though cause that cry for help might be obscured by someone shouting cause he's just sneezed all over his screen.
There is more but peoples brains will start to hurt with all this info. you need to start playing in set teams and practice just a few maps (ones that you are likely to play on a league!!! i.e. NOT 747!!!

well, g/f bot is moving up north next week 
but that does mean I'll be able to attend all CS sesh from now on
