the problem they have got with the r type is making the gear ratios on the r type match the model report for the v5 .
there is only an 8% tollerance either way and as the r type has a low ratio box its a lot more than 8%.
Who gave you the quote might try and see if they can do mine any cheaper?

Oh i see... my dont need to be so strict as i need not match it with a model report.

I understand that having owned mine abroad for over a year and thus bringing it to UK as an personal import, all i need is a simple SVA.. (not so simple tho)

SVA solutions in essex gave me the quote... they are no where near me though!... i posted the link some where at the bottom of post one.

This is a nonsense. The model report refers to the Applied Model Number, which is stamped onto the build plate, they can not get around this legitimately. A two door Type-R has a different AMN to a four door STI: thats where it stops, before the tester has put down his clip board.....

Actually i didnt quite understand the breakdown of quotes they gave me, namely the bits in bold... isnt the 'sva test fee' the same as the 'sva test' ?

is 'Registration Services' their admin fee?... as DVLA registration is already there at £50

heres the email:

Thank you very much for your enquiry, you can import your car as
personal import
as long as you own this car for last six months and your are living abroad for
12 months. Below is SVA and collection cost once car is cleared from
port/customs .

VOSA Fee ( Government SVA Test Fee) £158

SVA Test and Modifications £400+Vat

MOT £40

DVLA Registration £50 + Road Tax £99 for six months

Registration Services £50

Number Plates & Fitment £25

We will require Insurance & two forms of IDs

Collection from Port to London £120.

Above Quote is based on assumption that your car is standard and right hand
drive.

Many Thanks

Hafeez Bhatti.

Im sure that post 37 is well-meant, but it is porly informed. As I have already stated, your car will be a personal import (a legal definition, all others are commercial imports, whether imported personally or not...) which will [b]not[/i] require a E-SVA test, so the unavailability of a model report for this model is irelevant.
