very unfortunate news

brings back hideous memories of what i did to my first car - a sport i was only tp f&t insured on. lost about £4,500 on this last year...

amazing thing was in my bloodied state i refused to go to hospital and wanted to try polish the "scuffs" out think i was a bit concussed, passed out in the ambulance

Good stuff, apologies for asking but there's many that don't.

Damaging your car is never a pleasant experience but you're ok (a bit stiff I would imagine) and the insurance will pay for most of the damage. On a 7 year old car that looks like a total loss but given the mods I'd suggest you try and find out how much to buy the salvage back and break it yourself. The insurance company will probably value the salvage as a standard car and there's some good ebay bits on there.

You can buy a Cat B as mine was & they gave me the salvage option, but you cannot ever put it back on the road as you will never get insurance for it, it is to be stripped for parts only.

still not been paid out or been made a offer

courtesy car was taken off me 3rd of jan.

its been well over 2 months coming to 3 since the crash..

does it usualy take this long?? never had to deal with a insurance claim before so not sure if this is normal.

Might give A-plan another ring.

started my claim on the 31th october and had cheque in my hand by dec 21th, if they are playing you around might be worth requesting a full copy of the file and the information held, it will cost £10ish but will provide you with the full notes on the file along with call transcripts etc.

if you write in to the MD's office requesting this and detailing that your not happy with the service/miscommunication and stating that if response isnt completed within 14 days you will go to the FOS.

write to: The Managing Director, . enclose a cheque for £what ever and ask for full copies of the claim file, policy file and call transcripts. try and include a fax number if you can and say that your prefered method of communication is written and faxes are immediatly received.

Thats what i did my god did it make them pull there finger out

For future reference, when air bags go off, they create a sort of smoke, it's basically a small explosion that then fills the bag with the exhaust from said explosion... and as the bag deflates, the 'smoke' comes out... making you think there's a fire somewhere.... it's very common for people to think
that........
Airbags use a propellant charge based on a number of differing factors,

The size of the airbag, and the location of the airbag.

Large bags used to use or have used sodium azide,as the propellant, others use a small explosive charge which generate gas. The expanding gasses through a gauze & charcoal filter to remove the noxious elements, before passing into the bag. Other use a compressed propellant, which is released by the operation of the unit.

The airbags are also Dependant on size or end market, and are lubricated with varying compounds. talc used to be one, silicone was another if i recall.

Flamesuit on

dosent it seem a bit strange....

all the accidents shown on here "non were speeding, and non were the drivers fault"

dosent say alot forr subaru's build quality if they fall apart at the merest tap.

Seriously guys and gals, i'd be writing to watchdog saying how my jap car fell apart at the slightest bump :

flamesuit off

Ps been there done that.....cept mine was only 1 day old (motorbike) and yes it was my fault, i came of very worst financially

Mine was my fault & I have never said otherwise, & no i wasn't speeding as I had just gone round a corner

It does seem a little strange that it has taken so long to pay out I am with A Plan and have Groupama as the insurer and they paid out really quick after we agreed a sum, you was fully comp I take it?
