i paid about £100 on ebay for a second hand samco hose years back and ended up with the early version that sucks itself closed anyway ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
iirc the ebay advert said something like "the uprated 3ply version" so i figured the early version that sucked itself closed must be 2 ply![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
anyway
4 clips on mine tightened up seamed to do the job, but the alloy inserts on mine are also slack (remember this is a samco!!)
they "suck themselves closed" was a phrase i heard on this forum (about 5 years ago)
the inlet pipe mod, is one i would only recommend if the standard one is split (mine was), if the standard pipe is fine, not a worthwhile mod IMO
the early samco one was fine at 1.2bar but sucked itself closed at 1.3bar +
i never removed my manifold, i slackend it a little bit, but it was never removed, i also left the PS pump in place and just shoved the dam thing under until i got it in the right place![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
the samco one i have also seams to have a rather large 3" alloy ring for the intake and my stock pipe struggles to fit over it (had to make a small cut to help widen it!)

not disputing what you are saying in your post dude, chill!! I am just saying I had none of the hassle you seem to have had.
My car is a MY98 WRX also. My car was totally standard when I bought it, all mods have been fitted by me. And no cutting or whatever was done to get this inlet pipe to fit to fit on my car. I obviously had to remove the inlet manifold from the car and then remove the fuel rails from it, I then slotted the inlet hose into the manifold and then simply replaced the rails and pipes back to where they came from, as I said before I found the hardest part to be getting the manifold to sit down properly without damaging their gaskets.
Although our cars are of the same model and year they obviously differ somewhat

I'm wondering if the Autobahn pipes have changed for some reason.
Wayne.

I bought one of these and it was a total pain in the *** to install. When I had a 2004 STI I had a Perrin, Samco relable, turbo inlet hose that collapsed at half a bar. It was quite easy to deform with my hand. This Autobahn88 hose is not. I cannot squeeze it closed with my hands. The OE hose on the new age imprezas is not a restriction for any non-rotated mount turbos, but on the classic Imprezas the factory house is very small on the V3/V4. I won't have my car back together for a few days, but if this hose collapses with my stock VF24 I will be quite upset.

Have this Autobahn88 unit fitted to mine for around 10 months now with no grief. Only boosting at 15psi with random 3" bell mouth decat, Blitz DSBC, and HKS panel filter. (Daily driver)
Had to take my manifold off to fit and also had to modify the fuel rail brackets slighty. Few hours later and job done. Still in tip top nick, not bad for the price.
Modify, overcome and adapt!!

I installed the Autobahn88 hose with my new engine and it was a giant pain in the ***. The fit of the Autobahn hose leaves a lot to be desired, but its price makes up for it a bit. There is no good way to fit the hose on the OEM MAF to inlet pipe well, so I found the Zerosports piece makes this work perfectly. Even at 1.3 bar this hose has no issues with collapsing which is welcome news for me as I have had the problem in the past with other inlet hoses.

Oh sorry, I can be dense sometimes! Well the top line designates the prefecture where the car is registered and the engine class of the car. 51 is an old designation, but I get to keep the older plates. It means the car is under 2000cc and ties in with weight and width restrictions as well. The second line is a hiragana of which there are 45 characters, so the 4 larger number and the rest of the plate give you all the uniqueness needed.
