Probably one or both of That Was The Day by The The or ZZ Top's Jesus Just Left Chicago
And obviously You'll Never Walk Alone would be a given
About a year before Platoon came out, my Granddad had Barber's Adagio for Strings played at my Gran's funeral
Concequently it was a very long time before I could watch parts of that film without crying like a big soppy girl

I always see funerals as a celebration of a life (corny I know, but I do)
So I'd go for something like: YouTube - Carter USM - Sheriff Fatman
Carter USM Sheriff Fatman

I would have Percelain by Moby, and whilst people were leaving the ceremony, I would want The Verve's Bitter Sweet Symphony (a la Cruel Intentions).

I always wanted;
Slide Away - Oasis.
I firmly believe that the songs played at funerals need to tell a little bit about the person you are saying goodbye to.
Last year we had "you are my sunshine" for my Niece and her baby, and to be honest it was never going to be a celebration of life, and this piece of music really hit everyone hard.
I must admit now having read some of your suggestions I am really liking the Morecambe and Wise suggestion.

I want either ....
'Going underground' by The Jam or 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' by The Smiths.
If you knew me you'd understand my sense of humour.
Failing that anything by Sigur Ros.
Avalyn.

Ok, possibly a bit morbid right before Christmas but being at my mate Gary's funeral today got me thinking what would you choose, I don't think Gary got the choice and they played something quite nice but it nearly set me off as it was a bit emotional sounding.
Anyway, It got me thinking as to what I would have played, I thought of one of my favourite tunes "We Haven't turned around by Gomez", honest, please listen to this, its a fantastic song.
YouTube - We Haven't Turned Around - GOMEZ
Or "High Flying Bird" by Toploader, in the end I decided on this, its thought provoking, poignant and dignified as my passing would befit, when we amend the wills its getting written in.
YouTube - Bach - D minor - Funeral March

Prefer not to think about my funeral, but something like this would be cool I guess

At my mums funeral one of the 3 songs we played was
"Don't stop me now" by Queen , this was played for the committal , she loved it and we had the volume cranked up ! bought a smile to everyones face
the other two were " Con Te Partiro " (a time to say goodbye) and Nessun Dorma performed by Andrea Bocelli

Thought Colin McRae's was a good one actually.
YouTube - David Tennant - I'm On My Way
ok that's a fan vid thing but the song (by the proclaimers) would be a good one as people leave.

Just to confirm, unless I am missing something I am not due to expire just yet, it just got me thinking.
My second one was actually Mu Nah Na Nah by the Muppets, nobody seems to have clicked on the link, I disguised it a little. I thought it may raise a smile.
Comfortably Numb has been mentioned a couple of time and that crossed my mind also, its so sombre yet uplifting in the chorus, total genious. Shine on You crazy Diamond is more what you would choose for someone else I think, plus people would probably have walked out before its started properly.

This is beautiful. Composed by Schubert, a brilliant composer who died very young.
