I'm sure I will be ok. I can still terrorize myself with the WRX PPP and previously with the Focus...

A Civic VTi will scare me crapless if its heading for a corner at 110.

Seriously though, I think I will be ok. I did have the whole... an STI with PPP would probably have done it kinda thing, but then, it probably wouldnt and I would have to slow riiiiiiiggggghhhht down for speed bumps and things.

Not to mention the spoiler and other things I dislike about the STi!!

lol Tidgy,

I reckon the following...

I'm gonna try meet up with the WYIOC and see if I can bat my eyelids for a few passenger rides in different cars.

I'm gonna ring ScoobyClinic, Andy Forrest, and HDC Subaru and maybe a couple more for package deals.

Im gonna get the shortlist down to 2-3 max and then see if I can check out demo cars or again find someone who had similar work..

Im gonna buy early next year, maybe Feb/March latest.

lol..

Or more likely, I will ring a few, go to one, and do a deal right there - because thats just what I'm like!!!

Actually with regards to power, I think if I am happy with what I get power wise, I will look at handling mods, as I have never done that!!!

With that done, I do kinda miss having a 6 speed box....

As I insinuated in a previous post, have you budgeted for an upgrade to the brakes, clutch, suspension and possibly gearbox?

Varboy,

RE Brakes...
It has 4 pots on the front and 2 pots on the back, with Ferrodo pads (disks I cant say without checking) which I cant see a problem with up to 350bhp.

Suspension...
Prodrive suspension at the mo, no probs that I can see but I have also looked into the complete Whiteline setup which looks like its <£1000 fitted.

Gearbox I've not done any investigation on. I'm assuming a 6 speed STi gearbox will do the job and cost maybe £1500 fitted, but that would be with me hoping nothing crazy happens with Diffs and stuff? Also if I were changing it, why not try get DCCD eh?

standard box should be ok for 350max so don't think that will be an issue

What do you get for £1000 Matt ? Simply adding the Whiteline ARB and solid droplinks to Prodrive springs, as I did, works very well.

I know you say you don't like the ride and spoiler on the STi but : buy one and fit a low level spoiler and Prodrive springs - hey presto, you have a car ready for remap and decat for good power, brakes, gearbox and supension !

LOL It's ok, Gloat away!

I think you neglected to mention injectors, 440s would have never coped with a 20G At those levels you also have to expect the gearbox to let go ( A 16G is quite capable of eating a UK box) and I would personally prefer to have engine internals upgraded, (pistons, rods, STi cams gaskets etc. ) before running a 20G to avoid worrying about bending something if I gave it some stick.

So my total would amount to a bit more than £1200 more!

Hi Andythejock,

Yeah when I say <£1000 for suspension I was thinking around £300 + labour!

I know what your saying about the STi, I know it makes sense even, and maybe in Feb when I go ahead and bite the bullet it might make sense to try and sort out an STi maybe as a P/X or something.

I realise I probably shouldnt have spent extra on trying to get a WRX with PPP, but I honestly thought that a WRX with PPP would be enough, sadly its not.

All these things add to up to could, should and would have's. In the meantime I'm just gonna make a plan with what I know based on what I have, and then next year something will turn into an impulse buy as it always does with me...

Whether thats an STi or an upgrade package, only time will tell!!

And to be honest, I guess even with an STi I am gonna need a larger turbo - so I am back to square one but without heated leather lol

Prodrive springs, fitted at a stealer, with geometry - about £400.

Whiteline ARB & droplinks - about £150

Sorted then mate, as far as I know it has Prodrive springs already!!

It was suggested so by the seller, and I have no reason to disbelieve him. Is there any way I can check?

If not its not exactly a big deal

Colour - my Prodrive springs are blue. IIRC, STi ones are red.

Mine will be blue then, I will check it out as am going to wash it today!

Bottom line is its looking cheap on the Suspension front - but then I did basically get told by a lad at work who has one that you shouldnt mess with something thats not broken..

IE - his advice was that they handle well already, so just refining as you have suggested should do the trick!

View my Scoob for the route that I took. I am more than happy with the results and Andy also commented on how well it had all come together...
