But you said it was an offence not to carry your documents, when there is a 7 day period when asked by an officer to produce your documents at a police station. What you said is technically incorrect.
If you can quote me the relevant Act/section to confirm your assertion. I will be glad to read it.

Never wait in your seat for the plods.
Always get out and go the nearside of your vehicle.
It's a mind ganme thing - puts you on an equal footing - he/she's not looking down on you and you are in a safe place for any conversation with he/she not wondering if you are about to floor it.
Don't let your mates joing in any chat. Their place is to keep shtum, and mind their own business.
Move even further away from you car if they don't realise that their behaviour can make the difference between a chat and a ticket.
Always get out and go the nearside of your vehicle.

Got pulled last week by a v.nice copper. They'd been following for a while in an unmarked car keeping quite a distance away. I assumed they were idiot chavs or maybe carjackers so I put my foot down.
Coppiceman reckoned that I was doing 100 but "I had evaded his vascar"
He didn't tell me how whih is a shame..

Hmmm this is an interesting one.
I once went very very fast and overtook a car in a 40 zone. I got pulled and ended up with 8 points (for one offence) which sounds VERY harsh. But in truth had they got me clocked I would have been banned outright. They asked me to step out of the vehicle because they thought I was going to run, they were not overly pleasent, but they were not too bad either, all in all I cant complain.
The second time I got pulled I was following our lass in her car, she went down a 2+ lane and we only had one person in each car. The copper gave her a producer, and just let me off. He was perfectly reasonable, and to be fair should have penalised us both.
The last time I was in a battered old 306 looking rough because I was just dropping the missus at work and then planned to go back to bed. He got out, checked the tax, asked who owned the car, if I was a named driver - obviously confirmed by his gadgets and let me go, again cant complain.
The only bad experience I have had with the plod was when I was in the middle of a small 'riot' outside a nightclub in Leeds, I was pulling a couple of mates out of the throng, I turned round and a police dog jumped on me... I dont know what happened next but I got out of the crowd with my mates and the dog was nowhere to be seen, sadly I think it got a kicking which is why it got off me. Perhaps more sadly the copper didnt and was last seen wading in to retrieve aforementioned canine.

I think you will find he is correct mate. I couldnt give you the exact act or section but it will be there somewhere in the road traffic act or whatever its called. Its technically an offence and thats why you get 7 days to produce then you will be alright. Just the way it is fella..the law at times doesnt make sense but it aint the cops fault..he didnt make it up

I`m exactly the same but sit on the other side of the fence as a long standing Hooligan with Leeds United.
As you say proper adrenaline rush, and I`ve been at some good ones like Birmingham 85" & Bournemouth 1990.
More recently, due to the over-Policing at football, I, along with a few friends have been visiting friends in Rome to follow Lazio with them when they have played Roma.

I've not had an issue with police in general for a while, most of the plod in my area are generally a good bunch of folks.
Being christmas time common sense takes over and as such I have been driving at pedestrian speeds as I know everyone else is too busy trying to park/shop/get out to notice you.
I keep all my documents in a file in my car, when I park up I take them with me, last thing I want is for my car to get nicked and lose my documents with it. I had a surprised look from a copper when was stopped recently, got asked if I had xyz documents and I replied yes I do, right here, the copper was like "oh okay".
I only had problems with the police once out of town. Was on my way back from London Shoot Fighters driving up the A5 through dunstable and I didn't give way to a van pulling out (I had car's up my bumper at this point) so the pulled me over. Got a lot of hassle and one of the plods kept going on at me.. bordering racial harassment but I just kept quiet, answered their questions quickly and walked off with the producer but oh how I wanted to take that copper and teach him a lesson about humility.
