I Am Legend - Will Smith

Good film but one major flaw. How the hell did the woman manage to rescue him when there were so many of those things outside? Why would she be hiding in the dark near the jetty? Plus when the house got raided she was seen cowering under the bed like a typical soft bint. Didn't make sense. apart from that i enjoyed it. They did hurry the ending though. Would loved to have seen another hour or so.

Watched it again last night and wondered why a trained army guy capable of rigging explosive charges and running a complex lab had acquired himself a high-powered automatic rifle, complete with telescopic sight, but didn't pick up a night-sight on the way out ? Given the nature of his foe it would have been top of my shoplifting list. Also, why did he need to be 6 feet from the deer to shoot when he had that sight ? Running after it and jumping over car roofs he'd have got nowhere near any deer I've ever seen !

Nice movie overall, but a few bits spoiled it for me.
There was a trap infront of the manequin, those zombies are quite smart eh, knowing exactly where he would step and knowing exactly which manequinn to take - and whats he deal with him losing consciousness for a couple of hours after the trap flipped him upside-down?
Then once he came back to his senses, the vampire was standing right outside with the dogs, now i can understand that they had to wait untill that little line of sunlight was in the way, but after it was gone - where did the vampire himself go then?
And damn that chick is tough, how did she manage find him and come right on time to save that weakling Will, and she did all that with a kid in a car eh! Thats Feminism for ya!
So if zombies followed them home that night to know where they live, why didnt they just eat them up on the first night, as obviously that chick wouldnt have a clue how to close all the shutters that fast while taking care of Will.
But a good movie nevertheless with very good shots. Good acting on Will's part as always.

The Omega Man, Charlton Heston, 1971. Seen it, thought it was great, like "Soylent Green" along with "The Planet of the Apes" two other classic Heston doom sci-fi movies. Haven't seen this re-make though.

Haven't seen The Omega Man but I am definitely bored of people all around me going on about how it's the original. If it's anything as dull as I am Legend i'll give it a miss thanks.
Could easily spend the middle hour asleep and not be any worse off....

I'm definitely bored of them saying it as well because it's WRONG. I suggest people try reading the whole thread before commenting in this and other cases.

Of course. the book is the original. I thought the film was one of the biggest excercises in absolute stupidity have ever witnessed. The whole "I am Legend" title is based around the end of the book - Which makes it clear why he is a "legend" - The film basically makes the title entirely redundant.
The actual film itself is ok, in terms of entertainment, but they took a great twist in the book and decided to bin it - Madness.

I actually watched "The Last Man on Earth" yesterday... Vincent Price black & white jobby... which itself is based on the "I Am Legend" book... I'm guessing the film is more focused on this film of the book, rather than the book itself!!

The Will smith film is a effectively a remake of the "Omega Man" which is "inspired" by the book.

Robert Morgan... scientist.. spends a lot of time on his radio asking for other survivors to come to him..
Film opens showing him boarded up in his house
Vampires knocking on his windows
One of them threatening to "Kill Morgan..."
Then a good old flash back...
his daughters birthday party
His best friend & him are trying to find a cure for the plague sweeping Europe!!
They realise that the plague is making people into vampires
The government are collecting the 'dead bodies' of the victims & burning them
They take his daughter after she becomes ill and dies..
His wife then dies, so he decides to bury her himself
She 'returns from the grave'
He kills her
He finds a dog
The dog dies
While burying the dog he finds a person out in the daylight
He takes her home
They become friends
She tells him that the other 'survivors' are on their way to kill him as he is a MONSTER!!
He tries to leg it
They corner him in a church
One of them impales him on a spear
He dies
The End

That said, the shutters weren't subtle, but I guess you can hide them behind the normal windows and some properties have them installed.

One thing I felt the film lacked was an interim flashback of after his wife and child died but before he was the last human on Manhattan. The whole chaos on the streets on an island sealed off with population of over 1.5 million...

Suppose I'm a bit behind on this, though I finally managed to see the film yesterday. I enjoyed it. I'd seen bits of this thread saying about the ending being disappointing, though I didn't think it was that bad for after my low expectations.

I really enjoyed, but I haven't read the book, I know how frustrating it is when they mess about with the story.
I did think there was no need for CGI vampires though, real people would have been better IMO, they looked overdone.
