It used to be £15 in a good offy, price went up to £19 and I told them to stuff it, next day it was £40 ****

Had a nice bottle or two of Baron Philippe de Rothschild in New York (Bobby Vans steak house) - luckily on somebody else's expense account. Was about $400 per bottle, didn't taste any better than a £20-£30 bottle of good stuff so was really dissappointed to be honest.

Ill be honest and admit to being a stella beer kinda guy
I watch footy, fart alot, and eat kebabs

But this wine thing is getting a hold of me rather rapidly

Im defiantly no expert on wines at all, but i have to say, my pallet is changing slowly, and i fine i drink more wine in the pub these days (obviously when im with the girlfriend )

i was the same, hating wine and drinking more lager.

what i did was cash in all my old optimax/shell plus points for 12 bottles of wine, then attacked them so i kinda knew "what was what"

what i discoverd

not that keen on red
love rose
love whites

i drunk a bottle of "pinot gringo" or something last night and now my head hurts

does anyone else find that the cheaper the wine the better it tastes?

Me and the mrs only get the cheap £4 - £5 a bottle stuff max, the more expensive we find the less palletable it is!

I`m not a big wine drinker, but I did get my wife a bottle of Jacobs Creek Reserve, about £12. She said that she preferred the cheaper variety, ie £4 a bottle stuff. Result 3 for the price of one

Rose is ok for drinking outside in summer but basically I find it the equivalent for drinkers of Silk Cut for Smokers.

What you need is a nice Sauvingnon Blanc, I do reds but it needs to be of the softer variety, not keen on the heavy stuff.

Make sure it is WELL chilled!

Don't put too much in a glass so it doesn't have time to warm up - it may look a bit mean but the wine will stay colder in bulk in the bottle.

Only hold the glass by the stem, not the bowl so you don't warm the wine.

Don't let the bottle touch the glass when you pour [etiquette!].

You could also try Jacob's Creek Sparkling Rose - a very drinkable fizz that's about £8 a bottle but great to start the party.

Anyway, whatever you buy, don't glug, but savour and enjoy!

Cheers!!

Probably rose d'Anjou - about £3 in Sainsbury's. Not bad, especially if you like a bit of sweetness and, at the price, you can't really complain.

Must admit, I tend to think of rose as a summer tipple.
