I love my bug too. Think it looks great and dont understand all the hate people give it because of the looks. I dont want to sell her, but havent got a choice. If you can stretch, go for the STI.

Had my WRX since September 2002 when I picked it up brand new, the longest I've ever owned a car which must mean something!!

Nothing has ever gone wrong except for an Lambda sensor (changed under warrenty by Subaru) and a gearbox, which was a one off as there were cracks in the casting.

It's a cracking car for the money, they are really cheap now and have loads of toys on them as standard, loads of fun and simple mods are pretty cost effective.

Mine's had a de-cat, remap, dump valve, STi intercooler and a few other bits and bobs, made 290bhp and 300lb of torque just before Christmas.

I've now covered 72k miles and still love driving it, it's been to the Germany WRC and all over the UK. 3 track days and a few 1/4mile runs up Santa Pod.

Can't see me ever selling it. The only regret is not getting an STi, but it's only a major concern if your goal is 340bhp or above.

View my Scooby as I can't post piccies at work

I feel the sti love but the stretch from a wrx to an sti is quite a big one, from what I have seen theres is at minimum a 2k premium for the sti, I know its worth that for the better parts as std but I can't stretch that far.

For me it's ideal, I've got 2 young kids and live in London (speed bump hell!), so an STi would be a bit hardcore.

And of course you can get a beautiful Wagon, not only is it better looking, just as quick, it's more practical and you don't get so many people in Corsas trying to beat you away from the lights.

Just planned a 12 hour drive to NE Scotland to see my folks, I haven't thought twice about it. That's with a WR Sport backbox which sounds great at idle/low speeds but doesn't seem to be loud at all on the motorway.

If you get one which has been serviced properly it should be reliable. A PPP one would be a good choice, as you won't pay much more, will gain 40 BHPish (some would argue with this) and keep the relative comfort of the WRX.

Have to admit - the WRX is a damn site more comfortable and easier to live with than an STI.

No chance of that when eveything is sat everything sits nose down, So I think it actually increases downforce a tiny bit.

2hrs to stand up thats good compared to these things. When going from fast touring kayaks to proper K1 Race boats, ( my shoulders are wider than the boat, and the bit you balancing on is only aorund 3 - 4 inches wide ). Within 10secs of being sat in it, I was holding onto the side, looking at the bottom from the wrong side of the surface. I took me over 6 months to feel 100% comfortable in one on millipond conditions. And around a year for most other conditions, and about another 6 months of night time training to get used to really bouncy stuff ( helps with confidance as you cannot see exactly the water looks like so you go on boat feel ). Only thing I found with the officiall scoob roof bars are the protection for the pain on the feet is poo. So I had to put some insulation tape on the feet to stop it damaging the paint.

During my travels I did night kayaking with about 15 other travelers. We were told we were going down "rapids" but they weren't too bad. Anyhow, I was second one heading down, got stuck on rocks under the water next to a short drop and the remaining 13 guys banged into me one by one !

In my opinion the bugeyes are the best value for money subaru you can buy at the mo. You can find a decent example between 6-8k. I remember when the bugeye was first released I hated it. I opted for a classic but I gradually came round to them and finally purchased one. I nearly did buy a blobeye but I thought I'd save the extra grand or two on mods!
