Just to say that you CAN lose it, and its not that much of a battle, just got to get your mind around it.
There are lots of plans, from quick and extreme to steady and "safe" but its finding what suits you.
Personally I have gone the 1st route, with just under 4 stone gone in 7 weeks. Lean tissue loss? Unknown, but its certainly not done any harm to me even if a bits gone. I was a big lad anyway from lots of training. Feeling better, hell yeah!
Hard work, honestly, na not really.

I think you can view my loss chart here..

Good luck with the loss mate

The bevvy is my biggest problem. Going to slowly ween myself off it over the next couple of weeks & then take it from there.
Eating isnt usually an issue. Bowl of bran flakes & a banana in the morning, couple slices of brown bread & cold meat for lunch & whatever for dinner. Dont eat past 8pm.

I think alcohol is probably more responsible for weight issues in men than studies show. Everyone on my plan who drinks is having the same problem and put their weight heavily down to booze.

Glad I dont drink.
My battle with liquid was diet coke and an almost dependancy to it.
On Nov 5th I started the plan and have not looked back at it, just stopped, just as I did with food too. Amazing how powerful the mind is.

Also discovered the difference between hunger and desire. Thats a big one to understand to lose any decent volume of weight.

I again need to loose some weight myself and blame eating too much fruit (Cabarnet Sauvingion/Carmenere/Merlot - all very fatty grapes ). Need a bit of a result as I'm getting married in just over a month but am not willing to be miserable and envious of others eating Lindt over Xmas!

I tried an Ephedrine based product many years ago, but my mate made me stop taking it as it made me ratty and a bit agressive. It also cant be that good for the ticker like speed or Uncle Charles!

I tried something once that stopped ypou absorbing fat (started with an 'E') but the side effects of the 'pass through' were problematic!!!

I guess I'll just do the sensible lower carb, even lower fat and zero grape thing and bump up the excercise a bit. It's the proper 'lifestyle' way really.

Sounds like chitosan, it's ok but tends to rob vitamin k from food sources so not ideal long term.

Funny enough the reason i stopped taking ephedrine was because i got snappy and aggressive, worked a treat mind.

Depends on how much you need to lose, I would seriously recommend Lighter Life for those with 3 stone or more they want to shift.
No ill effects, a clean sheet and works well

The quickest way tae lose weight bros is tae have a colonic irrigation. I swear bros. Book yooself and yoo good lady in tae a health spa fae a week or so and hav th works bro, I swear it will drop off.

Ok bros i nae its a bit gross having a pipe put up your cavity, but yoo get used tae it bro.

Dae yoo wear a turban bro? Yoo could shed a couple of pounds by unravelling that bro i swear and put it on thae fire bro, but nae in one go cos it will suffocate the fire n yoo will be cold especially in scotland bro. Just put 10foot of turban on the fire at a time bros, n within 3days it will all be done.

Good luck Stephen bros.

Bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Steak and salad for lunch.

Meat/fish and lots of vegetables but NO potatoes for dinner.

Edam chees to follow.

No coke. No coffee. Drink a large glass of of fresh, cold, tap water before each meal, with the meal and whenever you feel hungry in between meals.

Brisk walking wherever you are going, even in the factory or office. A bit of cycling or heavy gardening 2/3 times a week and plenty of sex.

I lost three stone in 2 months with no side effect and no constipation!

Then just watch what you eat and it should stay off.

I'd say to you is eat as clean as possible and eat 5 times a day (small portions instead of 2 or 3 large portions)

The atkins diet works to a degree but is flawed follow this diet.

basically eat a low fat low(ish) carb diet cut out all white processed foods i.e. white rice, white pasta, white bread, pastries, pizzas that sort of thing.

eat some branflakes, weetabix for breakfast or a small bowl of porridge, have this with Skimmed milk (as cack as it sounds i have gotten used to it) cut out all sugars and have canderal.

at 10am i have a banana

lunch i'll have a homemade soup or a salad with a whoalmeal pitta with tuna.

if i'm hungry i'll have another banana at 3pm or on training days just before the gym (gives me a bit more energy)

dinner - i'll have a baked potato, piles of veg i.e. broccholi, cauliflower, etc. with chicken breast done in the oven with some cajun seasoning, or the same with grilled salmon. sometimes i'll have a chicken balti - but to my own healthy recipe, i.e. brown rice. dice a small potato, part boil it, cook some chicken in a wok with spray light chuck in a few mushrooms, add a teaspoon of lazy garlic and ginger, add half a tin of chopped tomatoes and a tbl spoon of balti curry paste, cook for about 40 mins, lovely and really healthy.

Afterwards if i fancy it i'll have a muller light.

if and thats a big if i'm still hungry i'll have a 1/2 tin of tuna with another pitta or a small bowl of cereal although i'll try to keep my protein quite consistent as i am training.

I also went onto Ricky Hattons website and got some good tips off Kerry Kayes as you know is Ricky's strength coach and nutritional guru,

Ricky steps in preparation for a fight 40lbs overweight and look at the guy when he steps in the ring, trust me Kerry knows his stuff, he also was a champion boddybuilder and owns CNP (Chemical Nutritional Products)

Another bit of interesting reading is that protein does not but any weight on you at all - trust me, it just sustains and builds lean tissue, but fat and carbs put fat on and is the main fuel for energy - too much (like me) and hence the big fat belly.

Tell you what mate - i wish i was 18 stone, but i feel great after losing 11kg, and hopefully losing a pile more.
Other than the curry that sounds horrible. Skimmed milk you might as well have water on your cereal. Whats wrong with just cutting portion sizes down and doing some exercise. You can still enjoy food rather than eating cardboard.

Prob is people expect miracles.

I went from 21.5st to 14st over around 11 months (about 4-5 years ago now). To ensure that it stayed off I didn't do any weird or faddy diets.

I cut out eating between meals (apart from fruit), had smaller portion sizes, cut out caffine and booze (apart from the odd drink) and tried to limit the treats. I still had a carry out chinese once a week, still had a couple chunks of chocolate after my evening meal.

Also went swimming most days (important). Also drank and do drink a LOT of water every day. Don't know if that helped but my skin shrunk back just fine - so no loose skin folds.

With making the lifestyle change (and not really dieting) then it's been easy to keep the weight off. As Simon said above, cutting down portion size, stop the snacking between meals and doing exercise works and keeps the weight off long term.

Richard.

This the hard part isnt it; reducing portion sizes? As Michael said somewhere else on this thread, so is seperating hunger from the desire to eat. Eating is a habit too and when you master that then losing weight will be far easier...

Spot on mate.
Thats why the whole thing of Lighter Life and abstaining from food is good.
My Xmas dinner consisted of 2 slices of turkey, 2 potatoes, and some carrots, not forgetting 3 pigs in blankets
That was me done, and suddenly I realised how over rated big meals and rich foods are.
I have lived 7 weeks on basic shakes and soups, and nothing about the food this time round made me want to keep eating.

Agree with most of the posts on this thread...

Would like to add that there are many successful routes to your goal, choose the one(s) that you think best suits you.

But what is required by ALL methods, diets, training regimes is willpower and consistency. Dont diet for a few days then pig out, dont train for 1 day then sit on your fat *** for the next 7...then ask why aren't u losing weight.

Training is easy i.e. 1hr 4/5 times a week......diet requires real 24/7 dedication, it's hard!

Its actually ok - and some people may not be able to have skimmed milk, i can. from my perspective it aint that bad. Think is you could modify my diet, its about eating clean and restricting your carbohydrates and fat. Its no good just cutting down your portions if its full of fat, Its about having the right foods, dont get me wrong i have the occasional treat, but then i dont go daft.

As for excercise, you are right, i do the gym 3 times a week and do a bit of walking as well.

I posted my diet to Kerry Kayes who i asked for advice, the only thing he suggested is i eat more protein a bit more often as i am doing a lot of weight training but apart from that it is a well thought out good diet.

Skimmed milk is fine Cant stomach full fat though.
Been a long time since I have had either. Best I have had in weeks is water based milkshakes lol.

Reducing portion size is indeed one of the needed things, but then again each person gains and loses weight in different ways, so what is right for one, is poor for another.

I know for a fact a very low carb and no solid intake works for me, and very well too. And with only 4 days left til I start on food again (week 1 protein) I can honestly say hand on heart, I will stay using the food packs as a main intake suppliment for a long time yet.

2000 calories a day is the recommended amount.
HOWEVER..... depending how active you are will determine the true amount you need.

Its hard to do hard cardio on low carbs, but it is possible if you pace yourself.

I am currently having between 250 and 500 calories a day, just to give you an example of how low a calorie diet you can survive on.

How much weight do you feel you have to lose?

Halving you calorie intake, and upping your activity level will have a big impact on your weight, however what you use to take in those calories also counts.
