DVLA road tax rip-off!

My 97 typre r was registered last month and there is no Co2 figure on the V5 doc.
I think I paid £99 for 6 months tax.
I assume this means they would be unable to tax me at the higher rate as there is no Co2 figure registered or am I missing something

My gripe is that mine was made in 1999 so is always going to be too old for tax to be calculated in such a way whether it was an import or not.

Oh i can afford it,but its the principle that sucks.Why should i pay £100+ extra per year car tax than someone with an identical car but registered before mar 06 there are no differences whatsoever in emissions.In fact there are 06 hawkeyes which are newer than mine but are registered before mar 06 so they fall into the cheaper category how the hell does that work ![Ponder2](images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
