Why doesn't this apply to my car then - reg'd Dec 2004 in Japan, reg'd Jan 2007 in UK

I'm in the same boat as TX my car was also manufactured in Sept 04 and registered in the UK in July 07

My 97 typre r was registered last month and there is no Co2 figure on the V5 doc.

I think I paid £99 for 6 months tax.

I assume this means they would be unable to tax me at the higher rate as there is no Co2 figure registered or am I missing something

I would guess it is because your car was fisrt maufactured after March 2001 therefore being new enough to havetax calculated on C02 anyway.

My gripe is that mine was made in 1999 so is always going to be too old for tax to be calculated in such a way whether it was an import or not.

Imported July 2007, built Sept 2004, Tax £300 pa. DVLA are only applying the law.

I to am miffed but like any Scoob, if fuel, insurance or incidentals are a pain then flog it!

OK ... but yours was reg'd in UK after Mar 06 so must come under the CO2 rules?

Oh i can afford it,but its the principle that sucks.Why should i pay £100+ extra per year car tax than someone with an identical car but registered before mar 06 there are no differences whatsoever in emissions.In fact there are 06 hawkeyes which are newer than mine but are registered before mar 06 so they fall into the cheaper category how the hell does that work

Checked my tax disk to be sure and it had 6 months put on it 5 months ago when i purchased the car it was 99 quid.
