I don't go challenging...but 90% of drivers who have tried it on have been BMW owners.....opposite attract?

I'm sure I could see off a mere M5 - M3's are easy .... are M5's a bit faster?

BMW produce some great cars and have done for years, victims of their success in the same way the Scoob is, probably to a greater degree is that it is not just petrolheads that buy them w@nkers do as well, plenty of w@nkers about with money so cost does not guarantee exclusivity or quality of owner of a quality marque.

Well said in so many words.

I think there are a number of BMW drivers who spend a lot of money buying say an M3 or an M5 and so expect to spank/be over everyone else on the street they come across especially the mere scoobies

Flat Eric, nice one.

Seriously though, I take on board that on both sides of the fence are *****.

However, having said that, I do have a look on other marques sites and, guess what?

There are 3 Brands that keep on popping up as being driven selfishly by the driver.

VW (lots of Golfs) Audi (lots of A4's).

Then BMW (lots of 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, Z4's, X3's, X5's I didn't include each by model just by group).

Now, I'm still trying to keep an open mind on the BMW, well made car etc etc, no doubt about that so, let's look at some facts.

We all know that BMW sell more 3 Series per year in the UK than Vauxhall make Astras.

They also, if not dominate, are pretty much market leaders in all the segments they operate in.

Add it all up, that's a lot of BMW drivers.

Take Subaru as an example, there are only a fraction of Scoobies on the road in comparison.

The cars are so much rarer than BMW'S, perhaps that's why they act (some not all BMW Drivers) the way they do toward Scooby drivers.

Unconcious desire to own a limited production run or, realiastion that every man and his dog has a BMW?

Regards

The BMW 3 Series outsells the Mondeo, is it badge snobbery? is it that the BMW is better? is it that the BMW holds its value better?

It is more to do with BMW brand, brand valuers and associating yourself to something you aspire to IMHO.

BMW as a brand is seen as exclusive(that may now not be the reality) , asperational, a reward, different/better than the norm/run of the mil. Quality, good engiineering, racing pedigree, etc and BM do everything they can to promote their brand.

They have done and still do produce some great cars, no doubt about it.

Like a lot of brands they attract all sorts of people (including some real grade A w@nkers) who also aspire to their brand and image (as they see it).
