Xbox.com | United Kingdom and Ireland - Xbox Live Issues
16 pages of gamers pretty pi$$ed of with the whole Live/360 experience
...and another 30 odd threads of complaints on the first 2 pages of Microshafts very own fanboy forum.
Once GT5 and GTA comes out for the PS3 then the 360 will be for sale pretty sharpish

Look anywhere on the internet and you can find people moaning about anything. personally, I don't see the problem. Live was a bit flaky over xmas because of unprecedented demand. They've fixed it now and will be compensating for the downtime. Can't see a problem with that myself...
Personally I've not experienced any problems with it at all
Personally I've not experienced any problems with it at all
Far from fixed i reckon when.................
FIFa is still ropey (I know EA servers are cack at the best of time but this is a joke)
Forza is seeing more disconnections than usual and sometimes wont connect at all
PGR4 just wont connect
COD4 collapses after 8pm
Freezing on the Live Blade is become more common
Sometimes the Friends list wont appear at all for the entire session
Messenger wont connect and if does connect it drops out after a couple of minutes
Unable to redeem Microsoft points so i can DL the extra tracks for Forza
Update for BF2 does not work so i cannot play that game
....and the offer of a free arcade games from yonks ago is a tempting as a BJ from Jade Goody. Personally i am not looking for any compo i just want Live back to the way it was pre Movie downloads
These are all the problems i have personally experienced and it annoyed the hell out of me for hours on end when trying to play FIFA with my cousins in the States at Chrimbo time, only time of yr when all of us can get together on Live for some stress free gaming fun but thanks to MS, this years was gaming was pants compared to prev years
The hierarchy of Live have offered no timescale for things to be back to normal and no official reason for the outages. The cherry on top is the compo offer of an arcade game that 99% of Live users would never play
As i said 30 odd pages of varying degrees of severity of dissatisfaction on the link i posted so as i said i think there is a few gamers out there that disagree. Only the most ardent fanboy wont state that they dont see a problem, Hi Iain
Whereas the PS3 online has been fine and dandy and if Live does not improve over the next week or two i wont even wait for GTA or GT5 the thing will get punted before the end of the month because without a decent online service, for which i pay £40 a year for the privilige, the 360 is just not for me. Probably the reason i have a low 1900 gamerscore due to just playing online and hardly touching the single player aspect of most games. COD4 was the last single player experience i enjoyed and before that it was GT4 on the PS2
Personally i think Lives problem has been has been the massive amount of new users over the Xmas period over stretching the servers and this in conjunction with the recently released movie download service the Servers effectivly collapsed. This is only my humble opinion

Totally agree Iain, Why do people keep bitching about the slightest glitch, seems people want MS to fail for the hell of it, i've played Halo3 with 2million people online all is fine, they've just released movie downloads to Europe, maybe they didnt expect it to be as popular as you cynics would make out, but they are increasing bandwidth's as demand increases.
My internet was as expected, surprisingly slower over xmas as people were off work and surfing, I didnt ring Virgin and complain.

Also discovered that the door that has been held open by the PS3 all this time actually leads a big place where the roof is Blue, the floor is a mixture of grass and concrete with other people driving about in cars like the ones in Forza/PGR4.

I never said I didn't have a problem with Live over Xmas. It struggled due to the huge demand, and is now back to normal (due to MS putting in more servers etc)....And i am saying that it is not back to normal, today is better yes but still not the way it was pre-Christmas

Nothing to do with Live. That's EA's less than great coding....FIFA08 prior to christmas it was a beautiful experience even when playing 5 v 5 with Andy in Virginia and Axl in Texas since christmas it has been mediocre. For once in its life FIFA is actually better than PES online so the coding cannot be slated

Yes it will.............PGR4, hhhmmm been sitting for 30 mins waiting on a race but just sits there in the lobby again i am not alone with this according to a few threads.

Hmmm, that's when I start playing it...........not been on COD4 a lot myself, the twice i went on COD i experienced a 20 min wait for but i have read numerous threads citing COD4 as the worst example

Don't use that, so can't comment...MSN, it has become a bit of a signal that all ids not well. First MSN goes then game becomes unstable. Bloody hate that addon anyway

Unable to redeem Microsoft points so i can DL the extra tracks for Forza
Hmm, I redeemed a prepaid card on xmas day (for my mum and her 360), and I bought additional points for myself yesterday with no trouble......Again a few threads regarding this, i have tried to input a prepaid card yesterday so i could DL the Forza addons. End result is "Cannot complete this process", resulting in me still not having the extra tracks but having paid for the card

Update for BF2 does not work so i cannot play that game
Can't comment as I haven't got it. That'll be a problem with the developer, not Microsoft or Live.........BF2, last time i played this was a good 6 months or so ago and i got the update screen it would not let me past the screen without the update so both Multiplayer and Single player for me were null and indeed void. The update comes either via Live or from Live so i would disagree and say it was a problem with Live/MS

MS haven't actually announced what the game will be, so that's just conjecture at this point...............widespead conjecture and some CEO of MS has confirmed there will be compo of a an arcade game for Gold users

Seeing as MS have announced that they have now sold 17.7 million 360 consoles, 30 pages of problems on a forum seems pretty small .....still should be a decent a stable service for all for the amount they charge per year

Making it sound as if i am the only one suffering a poor service but according to the 30 odd threads, threads posted and counted since the turn of the year on MS's own forum i am not alone. Extrapolate the numbers as you will but there is no ignoring there is a problem with the glorious service they call Live. When it started to go **** up about Christmas i spent a day chasing NTL/Virgin thinking that it was a problem at my end. After typing "Xbox Live failure" into Google i soon realised i am not alone. Having kept an eye on that particular forum for the past 10 days or so for news of improvement i see that more and more people are becoming frustrated with the level of service currently offered by MS and quite a few are selling up and heading for the dark side (oh thats right i already own a PS3 since day 1 so does that make me bi-sexual because i swing both ways), me included if Live does not stabilse sometime soon

Here we go again the TuppaWear Mafia gang up on the PS3 boys, Oh the paranoia of owning an x-box, you'll probably miss the RROD coming on as your continually looking over your shoulders at what the PS3 is doing, quite frankly I don't understand it but it's highly amusing to see people getting so animated.

Personally, I have owned practically every single console ever made (still got most of them, including a MegaCD and a 32x ), so I'm hardly a MS fanboy. Will get a PS3 as soon as there is something worth buying one for. At the moment there isn't imo.
I've not had any of the problems that you mention, and I use the console a fair bit. If that makes me a fanboy, so be it . For a 2 week period of flakyness it seems a bit of an over reaction, but you are entitled to your opinion...

I bought one...what a waste
I've still got it though, it's sitting in a box in the loft, along with my Amiga A500, Original Playstation, PS2 and an original 80's Cartridge Atari!

I've had lots of problems with the dashboard too, all I've had is the flashing circle lights and not much else, until it gets to the "connect to xbox live" option - but strangly, if I press the live button the controller it brings up my friends list no problem.
Dashboard seems to be my main problem, getting into a lobby has also been problematic on COD4 but once in the lobby and in game its been fine with 16 players, but I know some others have had problems.
Don't think its fair to compare the problems Live has had with PSN - there is huge difference in the numbers using them.

Highlighted ones are the only ones i never owned. I still have the Commadore Plus 4, Megadrive with Sensi Soccer, Virtua Racing and PGA Golf, Dreamcast with F355 and a Panasonic 3D0 all sitiing upstairs in the loft
At one point i even had a full size Star Wars Tie Fighter arcade game for a while in the garage. Bought the Tie Fighter and a Paperboy unit for £40 from a fairground in Millport that was closing and sold it 6 months later to some Star Wars friend of a friend for £800 and sold the Paperboy machine online for £500

No Grandstand consol from the late 70's which played tennis footy and squash with sliders?? didn't they call it pong ?, I still have a colour version in the loft and it still works ! and yes i'm still waiting for this to become collectable, if it were a car it would have been by now...

I read yesterday that Rockstar have scrapped that idea anyway, so there won't be any Xbox exclusive content anymore, apparently mainly due to missed deadlines and not enough time to sort it out and the fact they didn't want it to be exclusive to Xbox. Just what I read.

missed deadlines is because of the crap to program ps3 (probably)
