"Well I disagree with what you say about the death penalty, history does in fact show that murders have increased since the death penalty was abolished. We see murders of one sort or another nearly every day now, whereas in the years when the death penalty was extant any murder was front page news!"
No you are very wrong. History proves death by the state is not a deterant. People used to be hung, drawn and quartered, in full view of hundreds of people, a public spectacle, and yet people still commited crimes. The state used to hang thiefs outside shops in cages and left to die. Other "criminals" used to be hung in cages in trees and left to rot. Homosexuals or women who commited adultery had a device inserted in body cavities where it expanded causing severe induries usually resulting in death. Unfortunately the nature of the human brain will always lead some to do unsavoury things. And some poeple say African's are savages.

"Of course sending the poor woman back to Ghana was equivalent to a death penalty. The authorities knew full well that she would not be able to get the treatment that she needs to stay alive. The fact that it is available if you can afford those enormous fees is neither here nor there, She cant pay anyway! She will die an awful death while she is forced to remain in Ghana-what else can it be but a death penalty then? Seems pretty simple to me!"
You are wrong again. Authorities knew the services she needs are available in Ghana, at a cost. It costs the British taxpayer to treat her in the UK and in Ghana. The British Govn't offered to pay for 3 months treatment. It was health services in Ghana which refused this because it would not cover on going care, of course as I suspect, she will need only 3 months care in Ghana to process her visa and the return to the UK. Immigration services do not act in an inconsiderate way because they can be sued for malpractice very easily. They are acting within the law, she wasn't. She has family in Ghana and they will be obliged to assist, like any other person in the same situation.

"How can you be so merciless-thats what I can't believe!"
I actually can't do a thing from where I am. Immigration is a precise thing, and clearly this women broke the law before she fell ill. The illness is secondary and is being used, with her authority, by the media. She accepted the fact she was in breach of immigration law, and was removed.
Obviously, as you are a supporter of the death penalty, it's equally merciless to convict an innocent person of murder and then issue the death penalty. As we know, this has happened many times.

Not strictly true, i was working on a project recently dealing with students in London, li spoke to (or at least tried to) speak to many, maybe 300-350 foreign students out of around 2000 total here on visas who spoke no or little English doing similar studies, i often had to speak to a friend who interpreted, i could not for the life of me figure out how they studied and learnt anything in English unles their friends interpreted everything for them.
You might just start to wonder why they where here in the first place and how they got visas as being able to speak/understand or write english did not seem to be a requirement
This was part of the TFL Oyster card 18+ scheme so all students of all ages!
Now you could say that it is just me being biased but i was genuinely suprised!

Klaatu,
If you had read and understood my posts, you would see that I covered almost all those points.
As far as innocent people being executed is concerned, of course that is a terrible mistake. No one should be executed without completely positive evidence of their guilt.
