As I've said a few times already. If you feel so strongly about it whip out your cheque book and help pay for her treatment. The pair of you are heavy on the sympathy and happily ignore the points raised in this debate which don't tally with your musings. I've still not heard where you'd draw the line?

Right lads, my new missus is polish, she is here legally, but knows many who arent(which pisses me off!), my point is most of the illegal ones have seen a doctor and got a free perscription, or injured themselves somehow and gone to A&E for free treatment!
There are even websites written in polish but hosted on english servers, in england that advise the best way to get free stuff!!I didnt read that in the daily mail, its a fact!
If that doesnt prove its easy to get money out of this country, nothing will!

I don't even think its Chrisitian thinking, Les. It's basic empathy for another human being. Some people have it, some people don't.
I have never understood the "well you try going to Ghana and getting free healthcare" argument. It is complete nonsense. Britain is the 6th largest economy in the world, Ghana is one of the smallest. We are in position to help people less fortunate than ourselves, and we have a moral obligation to do so.

If we weren't turning UK Taxpayers down for healthcare needed then I'd say - Great, use any excess to assist those that need it on a case by case basis.
As it is, UK Citizens are NOT getting all the healthcare THEY have paid for so I'll be damned if funds are diverted to someone who has contributed precisely ZERO into the pot.
Sorry if this sounds harsh but I'll reiterate comments made previously.
I took my family on a holiday to the USA last year. My father fell sick - he felt dizzy and was vomiting. As he is on some pretty powerful medication for RA we thought we should get him checked out.
1. Visit to local health center. Took blood pressure, temperature and looked into his eyes. Verdict = Go to Hospital, Bill £200.
2. Visit to local hospital. took BP, temp, looked into eyes, took blood sample, took urine sample, CAT Scan, side room with bed for 2 hours, consultant visit for 15 mins. Bill £3500
They refused to accept proven insurance info - bill had to be paid by cash or credit card. Dad claimed the money back from Insurance on return to UK.
I suggest we adopt exactly the same approach here.

Not as far as i am aware, the NHS do not ask where people come from, see the links posted ot health tourism, mentions that there, they cannot work out the figurtes as no one is keeping score

So a logical extension of your arguement is that someone who pays more tax than you should get priority?
Oh and the old mantra of 'charity begins at home' is nearly always trotted out by people who aren't very charitable

You use quotes around steal, your point seems to be directed towards me, where have I said steal? Where also have I said this person arrived solely for healthcare?
In fact I don't understand your point at all and why it's directed at me, very strange indeed.

Poppyc0ck - I'll bet that by far the majority of higher tax payers are paying twice.
One into the National pot and once for private healthcare - I'd say that is pretty charitable...

Well the NHS has certainly been stealing from Africa:

For all those scared and fearful people on this site, does this also seem right and just?

The NHS does not pay that well (obviously by the drain on our staff that the NHS trains and then leave for better prospects - and who can blame them)
We are replacing with what we can get from around the globe.
Whilst is is not right and in an ideal world this would not happen it does. We ate not the only ones at it either so lets not get too excited about a non-story shall we

Slightly off topic, but don't you think whilst people say charity begins at home and such like, we should equally say that the 'wasters' we have here already who are British, not immigrants, who sit on benifits should also not be entitled to healthcare as they also do not contribute via taxes/NI?

Given that none of you actually know how immigration services work, and the length of time it can take to process a case, she clearly broke the law, was reciving medical treatment for some time, and now she's been returned home.
The health issue is being used as a smokecreen.

She wasn't when she contraviened her visa conditions, immigration services sometimes take a while to act. As a visitor she would have had to have medical insurance, clearly she didn't, she received treatment for a year on NHS while immigration were dealing with her case, and they do consider the whole situation before judging (Unlike Australia and Haneef). She wasn't permitted to work as a visitor and/or student and clearly neglected to adhere to the law. That's why immigration removed her. If she'd dealt with immigration in the proper maner, after all she had 5 years to do so, she'd still be in Wales. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

This place is as extreme to the right as a Guardian forum is extreme to the left.
The majority is probably somewhere in the middle - But don't be under the illusion that Scoobynet is an accurate reflection of British opinion because it isn't.

I get discounted Bupa membership as a member of the forces; and theres no way my rather small medical insurance bill gives me back the tax money I pay that managers in the NHS P*** up the wall every day.

Strike up a debate in a pub about how you'd like to see illegal immigrants given full medical care costing hundreds of millions of pounds of tax payers money. Tell them that even though they are here illegally, they should be allowed to stay to get the care required. Hell, while your at it, tell them that as they are recieving care they should be given a house too.
May I suggest you'd be the only one thinking this way. Some drunk may even pummel you for your views.
