its a thing that lets weak and nerdy guys feel powerful
a bit like sadists feel top of the world when their up to there dirty tricks
when the world would see them as sad loners

I don't accept that this would result in things degenerating into tit for tat infractions; maybe there would be a little spate at first, but the culprits would be easily identified and dealt with. At the moment, people are clearly targeting individuals (for whatever reason) and issuing infractions that are, frankly, absurd.
Never given one, never received one; well I have got one that was subsequently reversed.

If the mods did what they were supposed to, i.e. banning those who issue incorrect or unjustified infractions, we wouldn't have a problem.
Has anyone actually had a talking to over the above? I think not.

Blimey, I'm agreeing with Spoon!
But the utensil like one is pretty spot on. You'd get IM's from the person you infracted, be it from their main account or one of their alias accounts, or perhaps even from others who like them calling you all sorts of names. Plus of course, as mentioned, there would be revenge infraction from the user, their alias or their friends.

And we can all merrily dance hand in hand into the sunset..... ![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
That's rather a naive view of the world, or rather Scoobynet, the fact is Scoobynet mirrors the "Real World" and as such has MANY different personalities to deal with .... so your utopia of 'lets all wear white gowns and constantly agree with each other' just isn't going to happen....![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

If someone posted a request for help, whether it be for a car issue or a personal issue, the thread was dealt with in a friendly and mature manner, rather than the idotic replies that are given these days.
Maybe you live in a horrible world, but in my world I am decent to others, and treat everyone with respect - that is reciprocated and all is well with the world.
People like yourself, and the other trolls on here just like to reply with stupid "look at me everyone, I'm hilarious" comments to whatever threads you can, it is like being back at school sometimes.
Humour has a big part in the real world and on forums, as does respect, community and comaradarie - but when certain people just take the **** ALL of the time and/or ruin perfectly good threads with childish pranks it does nothing to help the community, and gets very boring very quickly.

The Scoobynet of 1999-2001 was a very decent place to be, there were no trolls (as such), no petty arguments and it wasn't all about slating one another or **** taking. Most of the regional members knew each other directly, and we had many meets/drives/karting events etc etc (The Northern Meets, original NBO etc) - it was much more a Subaru based community, rather than the amount of drivel, back-stabbing, **** taking and such that continues today.

You're out of touch with the REAL world and I suggest you sit back, take a sip of sherry and dream of the good old days gone by... "those were the days...."

its only good if its policed. If it was policed then have of the people infracted would have the infractions removed.
Prime example is the bad taste joke thread from yesterday, massive clue in the title, yet someone infracted someone for posting a bad thread joke ffs

Well here's a news flash for you.... it's now 2008 and I'm guessing in that time scoobynet has grown somewhat from it's conception in 1999 ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

In fairness it has changed out of all recognition, not always for the best and given an option i preferred the old SN back then.
However, it is 2008, SN is HUGE, has more than its fair share of trolls and knobbers and needs systems in place to deal with them.
I do believe the infraction system is a good idea, it does seem to be being abused by some people who seem th think the are the moral conscience of SN and infract anything they deem as unplaatable and i do not think this is in the spirit or rules of the system.
Shame they do not (want to?) see what they are doing is wrong but then again i am sure they consider themsleves the moral guardians and above the law and rules.
Anyhow, if it is being abused then perhaps it is time to add the name of the infractor to the infraction. So the know that when they press the button they are not hiding behind the system. In Fairness the mods and Webmaster have access to this information anyway, they can see who and when and can spot patterns emerging, they do know who has alias's and other accounts in a lot of cases, these people are neither stupid or poorly equipped to do the job and do do so very well most of the time! Yes i know it has been said before but the mods are unpaid and give their time freely often to the detrement of their own lives and families, so are not always about to deal so any help we as a coommunity can give is appreciated!
I suppose an upshot could then be flame wars and open hostilities but then agian i do believe it would cut down on some of the silly, if not orchestrated infractions that have been going on of recent.
I do think the infraction sytem is being used/abused far to much and that some people should just count to 10 and then think is it worth an infraction or shall i RTM the post/thread and let the mods deal with.

Do you remember the threads that you contributed too when you first joined?
I certainly do and let's just say that your comment above, summed you up to a T.
