It takes all sorts to make a community fun, but there was a time, shortly before the infractions were introduced when this place was becomming over-run with people whose sole purpose of being on SN was to wind people up; and not in a funny banter-esque way, but in a malacious way! A good proportion of them are now no more, or have resurfaced as different IDs and been forced to tone their antics down lest a) we recognise them b) they get infracted to oblivion!
However, some trolls are now using the infraction system to their advantage: there is a lot of banter on here and, as can be expected in a community composed of people from all walks of life, a lot of lively discussion. Trolls are now jumping on this and using it as justification to irritate established and valued members who are on here to participate in the community properly.
Maybe a solution is not to display who is responsible for all infractions, but have an SN hall of shame for those that infract spuriously i.e. have more than 3 infractions that have been overturned?

The infraction system is a total failure. But then did anyone ever think giving the public powers to issue penalties would ever be a good idea?
Let's go back to the ratings. That was fun!

Some infractions are justified, but the majority are for silly reasons against people the infractor doesn't like, I'm sure they are the sort of people who if in real life had a problem they'd say nothing face to face, they'd go take a key across your car or something equally cowardly

That's actually a very good point ..... if a single member is having a lot of Infractions overturned they need to be named and shamed, they are clearly out of kilter with the Community.

There are far fewer arseholes using the site now than there were before Infractions were brought in.
Having more than one, OK perhaps two, accounts seems childish to me.
Obviously childish or "revenge" Infractions should result in a ban. 3 hits and you are out I would suggest. dl

Atleast now, a new user that is blatantly only here to troll, can be banned straight away. Atleast that send out a message: Behave, or get out.

Its been very interesting to see all the different comments but by far the Keep It option is way behind options A & C. So will Webby take any notice of this vote?

I even managed to have two others removed but what a process.
Originally I voted for scrapping but TBH I thinkl the name and shame option is vastly more appealing

I had two in the Hutch FFS and two from Mods after I had stopped and responded immediately to their e-mails Now they were for excessive smile or two but not one insult to man nor beast

What's the point in having moderators now if we're all able to infact, and, ultimately ban other members.
Saying that, this site was getting a bit 'w@nker heavy', with some really obnoxious idiots.
And, a few of the prats have calmed - no names mentioned.
