I see this had a write up in the News of the World today,

"Subaru are hoping to set a new world record on August 31 - and it won't be for the ugliest motor on sale (then a pic of a GB270?)
The firm want to gather 1,000 Imprezas from all around the UK at the Oxfordshire base of Prodrive.
It's a tribute to Colin McRae who died last year.
If you want to join the convoy coming from his home town of Lanark visit mcrae-gathering.co.uk"

Hope that doesn't lead to loads of non scoobs turning up!

Guys PLEASE PLEASE don't leave things to the last minute.

Order your stickers NOW as you need to allow a full 28 days for delivery and we are only 46 days away.

A sticker is required to participate in any part of this event. Even if you intend just doing a short part of the convoy you will need to be registered with them and display an official sticker on the front of your car. This is a condition of Police permission.


Orders have been coming in by the load for the shirts and there is a big backlog so PLEASE allow at least 28 days for delivery.

It's Gone Global! Ever since Prodrive made their release to the mainstream press about the McRae Gathering this week, traffic to the site and interest in the event has rocketed! News of the event has featured on Motoring websites right across the globe with discussions in forums in dozens of different countries.

They already have commitment from Impreza Club Luxembourg that some of their guys are making the trip over, they're talking to Subaru drivers in France about them coming over too and have now had contact from an Impreza Club in Poland who also want to make the trip and join in. It's unbelievable the way this has spread and the enthusiasm they're seeing from absolutely everybody towards this event.

Apart from those Europeans willing to make the long trip over, they've had contact from people in the USA, Australia, Sri Lanka, Argentina and Jamaica all wanting to buy shirts or stickers so they, in some way, can be a part of it even if they can't attend.

Given the scale of this event and the permissions they've had to obtain, it's vital the stickers on display over the weekend are large and clear to the Organisers and Marshals to show who is part of the event and to smooth traffic flow. However smaller souvenir stickers are being worked on so you have something you can keep on your car to show you were part of this event without being massive like the official stickers. The'yre proposing these smaller stickers are given out on the day at Prodrive as a souvenir. You may make a voluntary donation for these if you wish rather than them be a mandatory purchase, but they will only be available to those who are at Prodrive and who have already paid for their "big" sticker(s) and as with everything else, all profits will go to the charities.

There are already over 500 cars registered, paid and confirmed for the event with more orders coming in daily. That's only those they have registration numbers and contact details for. There are still more to be added to that.

In terms of money raised for the charities a quick analysis shows they have definitely well over £10,000 already even after all outstanding invoices have been paid. It's an unbelievable figure WAY beyond where they expected to be and there's still money coming in by the hour.

Stickers also need to be registered on the database otherwise no access at Prodrive
