Kept seeing these scoobs eating the roads up and thought id like a bit of that, booked a test drive and the chappy took it easy for first 5 to 10 mins, me and my bro in the car, he floored it I totally shat my pants and the smile I had on my face made it obvious that even if I couldnt drive it like him I was getting one..

so I did.... best thing I ever did.

4 or 5 years ago I set the best journey time (amongst friends) from Scarborough to London (a group of us regularly do this trip home in a mixture of cars, Boxsters, 911's, VR6's, Evo's, BM's. At the time I managed to do this in a 306 DTurbo the time was 2hrs 44mins, 3 up leaving London at 8am on a Saturday morning. How I did it I still don't know as the average is 3.5 -4hrs with the total distance being 250mls near as damn it

The following week I repeated the journey with a m8 in his MY97. It was Boxing day, no bugger on the road, cold, dry, clear blue sky with the first section taking 50mls of some of the best B roads in the UK (Howden to Scarborough via Driffield just incase you fancy trying it out!!)

Anyway that same journey took 2.5 hrs, a new record was set and I knew from that day that I had to get a scoob. The straightline acceleration was astounding, but it was the cornering that left me smiling from ear to ear.

And as for that flat4 sound....... ;0)

next........

i bought my first scoob, a red 97 turbo in 2000, needed an every day car for back and fore to work whilst my concours opel manta sat in the garage only being used 2 or 3 times a year, was going to keep it standard but had to have an exhaust after hearing one with a mongoose exhaust, then the brakes were replaced with 4 pots, then i wanted more performance, sold the manta last year, tried an evo6, then a rb5, then a p1, perfect , a good replacement for my first opel manta, 2 door, blue, goes like f**k

Colin Macrae won the champ in one, read alot about them, like what I heard, every time I saw one on the road I dribbled, went to put the deposit down, didn't want a test drive knew what to expect, waited 9 mnt for it counted the seconds, ached every mile of the 1000 running miles, then I was free.................... that was 2 years ago need a bib, new diapers and smile eraser every time I get behind the wheel. Has a life of it's own doesn't like slow drivers if it had hands it would push them out of the way and say "i coming thru!"I can just about keep him on their back bumpers snarling and growling impatiently... What a car

Don't know quite what did it for me - appart from finally being able to afford one - probably the view from the driving seat (back of the scoop. cool )

Been following them, and rallying for yonks. First thing I test drove this time round was a scoob. Driven lots of 200bhpish stuff, finally plumped for the scooby. Awesome sound, ohmigod grip.

Hope it doesn't prove to be too costly in maintainance & repair bills (I know it's going to hoover fuel).

- Mark.

Wink

I had a Volvo S40 T4 which was a reasonbly quick motor.

This time, with more to spend, I decided to get something quick!

On my way back from London one day, I drove past Adams Subaru in Aylesbury. I did a U turn and called in for some info. I didn't really know a lot about them at the time, but the dealer were really helpful and easy to talk to and I had a good chat with them.

Things were helped along by the stunning 22b they had in the showroom which I was in awe of. I wanted one so bad!

A couple of weeks later, they called me to say they had a cancelled order for a P1. It was a 2 door and resembled the 22b so said yes on the spot. Gave them my c/card number for the deposit.

The rest as they say is history.

I have to say, owning a P1 is like nothing else! People admire it wherever I go.

Regards
Kurt
