Petebrant, an issue we agree on yay!
I think she met the third bloke on a hen night, shagged him that night, then continued to see him at weekends, while he was under the illusion that she was single with no kids, but she was splitting up with bloke 2 and has 2 kids already.
He got her pregnant (she probably lied about contraception), then the truth rears its ugly head!
Then it becomes apparent he is not poor!
She sure can pick em, worst thing is she is quite fit for a 39 year old!

Through experiance, you can and will prolly get
2.5k protected settlement.
thats all i got when i got divorced.
I got all my stuff back (well most of it that wasnt worth much) she tried to keep my hifi etc, but i managed to get that back.
everthing else.. gone
get legal advice pronto

We have already discussed some things - she is not interested in the 42" plasma or any of my "toys" (thank god) she thought that the telly was a complete waste of money ("who needs a telly that big") and she knows how much I love my Porsche 911 and she said that she has no interest in that or any value attached to it, because she knows how much I would hate to lose it, so all in all she is being nice about everything and she wont change her mind - I know her better than anyone.

My split was amicable until it came to discussing how the property and effects were split. From then on she wouldnt talk to me, all the locks were changed, and i was effectively locked out of my own home.
you really need to speak to a solicitor, things may have changed, but you need good advice and pronto,
the only piece of advice i can give is if you have something you really value, or is worth a bit, get it out now. you could find its not around in 3 months time. I lost an mountain bike and some rare collectables that way.

Although what are the specifics behind it, because if two people are as amicable as RoShamBo and his wife are then it makes sense, saves time and money ag etc.
I did my own divorce, cost me £30 through the local Crown Court, OK circumstances were different,could they not do that and draw up an agreement with regards to kids/cash/property etc sign it in the presence of a notary and jobs a good un clearly I have no legal expertese hence I'm asking the question.

Sorry to hear about that.
I think that if she has custody she will be entitled to 75% or thereabouts. Its an awful situation as Swiss said and you will not come out of it very well.

Having no experience in this, but a few mates have gone through this.
If you have joint custody over the children and they stay at yours as well as your ex's I dont think you then have to pay maintenance.
I might be wrong, and every situation is different.

Look there are quite a few of us on here who have either been through the mill or have mates who have. Always good to get differing views from friends and collegues and that includes the female point of view if you can.
It looks (and I hope I am right) that you are having a very amicable split. I know that we are a suspicious lot and seem sarky, but it really is a case of "been there. got the t-shirt" . Many of the comments and advice may come across as unbelieving, that is just down to how crap the situation can change.
Just keep your wits about you, a sense of humour, your friends close and everything down in black and white. Dont be argumentative for the sake of it, but at the same time dont be a pushover.
I did my divorce in about 12 months, cost me £1500. Job done
She got a bigger slice of the house equity, loads of possessions, furniture etc and of course the kids.
Good luck once again

you still have to pay for the kids whether they stay at yours a lot of the time. you can in certain cases cut down the amount of maintennace depending on how many days you have them.

yes, some people pay for the ex and towards the kids..crazy I know
I pay maintenance to her for the kids, but I dont have any control over what she spends it on. when I turn up to pick up the kids and there is an EU wine mountain outside her front door, I do sometimes wonder

yup been there mate. I have asked osma bin ....... (insert name of ex-wife here ) loads of times for other bits of clothes etc and her comment is usually...well if they need some, go and buy them some !!
