I cannot believe how many anti scoob or anti having the oocasional bit of fun lobbyists there are on this site.

People like that really get up my nose.

You all profess to never ever speed or break the occasional traffic law but you all do it. Please stop professing to be so bloody perfect.

If you don't like the impreza sod off to another site dead simple.

A note to the OP. It is good fun when you come up against a suitable adversary especially when you show them up. I had the exact same experience as I exited a roundabout onto a long dual carriage way the other day with an EVO FQ340. I let him stay level for a little while then I waved and cleared off. Admittedly I have a hundred horses or so more than him but he wasnt to know that

Its good fun if and only if traffic and conditions permit.

We aren't all boy racers that go flying through villiages trying to show everyone how great we are. Its also about time the perfect amongst you made that distinction.

Hear, hear! Although I must admit, I think the anti- putting your foot down brigade's rans must be having an insideous effect, as the other day I decided to put some distance between myself and a Focus ST that was attempting to hump my bumper on a clear dual carriageway. I dissappeared off, then a rather strange thing happened.

I felt a bit daft and ashamed of myself even though it was really just a bit of harmless fun and making a point that I didn't appreciate being tail-gated (is that even a word)

Responsible owners are quite capable of exercising appropriate discretion about when it's safe to play and when it's time to behave! The anti-speed lobby don't like that though, as in their estimation, such discretion is dangerous and should be removed!

If that comment is aimed at me for my comments, then I suggest you and 95BlackWRX (who had a right go at me) find a Dictionary and look up the word "Sarcasm"

Plus these -- -- at the end of someone's post, mean they are only having a laugh.

If you want to speed, go on a Track day.

Speed limits are there for a reason. Remember, speed kills.

Yes. That is Sarcasm

Some people on this site haven't got a clue. Who said we didn't like Imprezas? I for one wouldn't have bought one if I didn't think it wasn't one hell of a car.

However, I am not totally deluded to think that the Impreza is the best car, or even the fastest, on the road. I appreciate good cars when I see and sometimes drive them and the Monaro happens to be a cracking car. It's not as good as the Hawkeye though.

And as to this race malarky, it was completely unbalanced. The Impreza in question is highly modded, the monaro was likely standard.

Ok picture this I'm driving along in my standard 280 bhp bhp impreza ,along comes a guy in his shiny 400bhp monaro and thinks to him self, I'll have a bit of fun here I can whup this guy with all my extra torque and bhp ,let's climb onto his bumper and give him a push, then sail past him ,impreza driver well and truly owned.

so according to you, it was balanced as long as he had loads more bhp and torque, but totally unbalanced just because i had more???
Don't forget who pushed first.
AND LIGHTEN UP,it's only a bit of fun!!!

Honestly though, how much money have you thrown at your engine and gearbox?

Then think of what would hapopen if someone threw the same amount of money on the engine of Monaro. I'm pretty sure wheelspin in 4th gear will not be everyones cup of tea though

<whispers quietly>
But you'd probably still own a Monaro on 0-60 time at this cruddy time of year with a 240bhp classic shape Impreza ...unless its the very rare 4wd coupé 4 (HSV badged - of course )

Including the purchase of the car I reckon I've spent between £25K and £30K on mine which cant be far off what the retail on a standard one of these.

So £ for £ I still have a huge performance advantage

You can pick up a fully loaded '06 VXR for £22K now if you look hard enough (although plenty of traders will try and push them on at £25K+ ).

But £14K will get a CV8 as a project car to throw money on brakes, suspension, engine etc.

sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you dont bother at all.
but you always enjoy the drive. and you will always be tempted to give it some at some point. my wrx is bog standard, and makes me laugh even when the carrera 4s waves as he goes past.
life is a cruel bitch to give me this car. no mods and empty pockets.
lol

As to how much this cost, ask David at API,I've stopped counting. but I've got exactly the car I want with no compromises.
