This laptop does have passswords etc to get into the system and it has to be a registered user, the laptops are used to take to Recruiting fairs etc where they can take potential applicants data, then when docked back at the office it will download on to a central server and we also back up on tapes as well and send these weekly to the main base(potential to get lost this method as well, just a matter of time).

These laptops should NEVER be left in boots, or even out of sight. and alsways left in the office overnight, clowns like these give us in the forces a bad name, nothing to do with Gordon Brown at all, although he is not a favourite of mine either.we were told of this the day before it was released and we have stopped sending the back up tapes for the time being.

Any other q's just ask

Its not about having a dig at anyone. Its about seeing the difference between right and wrong.
Bit like taking your kids to visit Gary Glitter.
There is a time and a place to do things. And taking one of the bidders for a takeover on a trip with you where he can get yout 1 to 1 undivided attention is a little unfair on the other bidders.

I dont particularly like the Labour regime, however this is politics aside, and common sense only.

As I have said, and has been missed out, I also done mind if RB takes it over, I personally think the Virgin group are a stable sensible group with a lot of business sense.

I dont "blame" GB for the theft, but if there is any chance of the data being accessable and non encrypted, then I would question both the MOD and Government WHY this was the case
