you lot have a ridiculously warped view of london
Why on earth did you agree to pay £10 for a drink? was the £7 G&T a double? did you just go round the clubs?
Normal for me (I live in islington and work opposite goodge st stn - live and work in zone 1) is
5.50 for a large glass of wine
3-3.50 for a bottle of peroni/pint of stella
£15-20 for a bottle of wine in a restaurant.
When we eat out, me and g/f eat and drink for £30-50 all in.
When we last went to the Ivy, the whole evening's bill was £150.
I can't imagine spending £400 between us on a night out, let alone just one of us.
In the heart of islington, £300K will get you a nice 1 bedroom flat. I would expect to get a well placed 2 bed flat for £500K in islington, maybe canal side.
to rent a nice 1 bed flat in islington is £1300-1500 a month.

£400 on a night out does indeed sound like club only boozing, in which case, what do you expect. Go to any capital city and see if a night in the clubs is cheap
Next time stick to the Harvester for dinner, and the Co-op for drinks. Im sure it will work out cheaper

Same sorta price for burgers as you.

Were there any physical services provided for some of that. After all Westbourne Park / Harrow Road is only a few mins from Edgware Rd

The major problem Suz and I have is getting home back to Angel.
Black cabs after midnight are like rocking horse ****.
Rape mini cabs are between 10 and 30 quid, but never travel on your own.
We never use buses after midnight. it's just not worth the hassle.

lol there is sorta business sense in having so many starbucks, being that it takes so long to get served and no one has a spare 30 mins to queue and wait... but after the rush is over... Zzzzzzzz lol

lol @ from what you can remember. Sounds like you drank quite a bit.
In fairness to the Edgware Rd kebab shops, as expensive as they are, they are so worth it. There is a place in Ealing too that does amazing one. And of course Kebab Kid (might be king) towards Fulham, also fantastic! And probably more expensive for what you get compared to Edgware Rd.
How much was spent on booze do you remember, and on what quantities..
Try Comedy Store next time for a good laugh, good food and drink and very good prices, as well as a good location.

It was not my choice where we went. the locals took me to the places they go to. Its just that those soft londoners can't handle their drink.10 vodkas and they are pissed so they don't care how much a drink costs. I wanted to go to a place called The Gate a barman told me about but the sloans told me it was a pikey bar.
To be honest for £44.00 I could have had lunch with two glases of wine from Le Gavroche or a three course lunch at petrus for £35.00 but these londoners are a bit slow so wanted to eat pub food in some dump called Bumpkin.

lol I can understand why you ate and drank in london now, you would never get there in MK with all the frickin round abouts lol
I didnt think MK exactly had the most happening places, but things might have changed in the last few years.
You dont live by the Law Courts and police station do ya?

Someone else picked up the bill for lunch so I treated everyone to champagne £100 then £110 on entry to clubs and taxis. £20.00 for kebabs the rest on cocktails, gin, vodka, etc.
Lucky I wasn't feeling flash that day or it could have been worse.

because with a car like a subaru with chronic understeer MK is the only place you can ge the back end out. frankly the road layout in MK is perfect. dual carridgeways and round abouts.

The road layout is indeed very nice, but the roundabout suck. Far too many of them. Looks like the sat nav has acne when you zoom out.
As for getting the **** out, I bought my scooby to drive, not play in, so has no appeal to me.
MK also has nice speed limits too, which I would also give them as a plus.

last time i went down there i stayed at a Holiday inn for 2 weeks (company training course) which was across the road from Hampstead Heath (no i didn't go for a walk).
The big pub was manned by french and aussie staff and it was less than £3 a pint.
We (about 10 of us) went further down the road to a smaller corner pub where we got a meal (saus, egg, beans, chips - proper food) and 6 pints for less than £20 which we got a receipt for so we could claim it back
On the last night we went into soho and they wanted £20 just to get into some places - sod that

here in Barnsley you can go out get wasted for about £30.
walkabout £2 entrance,
2 Bottle's of white **** wine £16
two straw's FREE
Burger £2.50
Taxi £5
Condoms £2
Im down with that, 99% chance of taking some flesh home, its all good.
London....... why travel all that way to be disappointed.
1 bed flat £300k **** THAT.
decent part of Barnsley (dont laugh either! there are some!) my 4 Bed Semi, garage, garden, over 4 floors, decent size. £175,000. That would cost over £1mil in 'the smoke'. I would have to be 'smoking something'!

London's just like anywhere else to go out, just much bigger so has more BAD places.
If you know where to go it's no more expensive than anywhere else. Where I go out is cheaper than where I currently live.
If the West End is where you head for, then expect it to be generally garbage and expensive.
Do your homework a bit, avoid Covent Garden etc. and it's a good place to go.

Pontificating
And just remember London subsidizes the rest of the country, you'd be f*cked without it
Nothing better than a nice summers evening sitting on the South Bank looking at the North, you just dont get that view in Barnsley or MK lol.
Manchester and London the two best cities in the country for music, comedy, eateries, people, all round entertainment
