I went to that london on saturday and frankly I am amazed that anyone would live there. I was taken for lunch in a place that basically charged a fortune for an australian to sell me tradtional english pub food at five times the price of my local pub. The place was full of ****ty old 70's broken furniture and people seemed to think that it was very quaint and interesting when in fact what it was was a dump. My favourite bit was the way they kept telling people they were full when infact the second floor of this 3 floor restaurant was completely empty.
After, luckily for me, someone else paid for lunch we then went to a bar that wanted about £7.00 for a g+t which I was told was cheap for 'that London' and so it proved because the next place £10.00 for a bloody drink. At 3 am when apparnetly things in that london close we went to a 'lebanease' place for food. This food was very similar to a doner kebab but lebanease doners must be different because 3 kebabs cost £20.00.
One night in the smoke on the lash £400.
Seeing dosy londoners pay 5 times the normal price for the same stuff and thinking they are getting a bargain PRICELESS

I have had some great nights out with 'locals' and not felt like i have been robbed

It is grim up't north so you should be grateful when you can come to a proper and cultured city - and pay for the experience, it will be summit to tell t'grandkids whilst you sit around t' fire polishing thee's wippets and chewing coal

Given the choice of the 2 locations. For day to day life, London suits me fine. Peace and relaxation I would head to my mates in MK, or **** off up to Wales lol

When I was a lad the place was not so bulit up and there was plenty of countryside for us to play in and go fishing etc. but it has all become part of the metropolis and its difficult to find anywhere with a bit of peace any more. The continuous traffic doesn't help either.

Fair play mate. Thats one of the reason of wanting to skip to Florida, more open space
Luckily I have plenty of on and off road parking here, and its a nice quiet part, so its all good

Yep MK is such a horrible place, no traffic, good roads loads of parking low crime, with loads of top quality inedpendant places to eat on the outskirts. lots of wide open spaces all over the city. Going back into London is like going to some diseased dirty den of iniquity full of deluded people who think that they are the centre of the world runing around like rats in a never ending maze. Plus you all have to put up with red ken and antipodean barmen trying to short pour your cocktails.

Speaking of MK, its amazing how many episodes of Road Wars there are, and with MK and the surrounding areas featuring on most
I think the population and population density of London and MK are slightly different. SO its hard to make a real comparison I think
Fair do's though, if you dont like the place, thats fair enough.
I do howeer thing the deluded people are also in MK, especially if you consider London to be the same all over. Its a pretty big place, and very different from town to town.
As for Red Ken... most definatly one of the down sides of London.

Luan, some interesting figures for you...
Month Total Apr-Jun 2005
number of offences 6584
Offences per 1000 population 30.4
Offences per 1000 England/Wales population 26.4
Now by my maths, thats ooh about 15-20% over the national average.
London IS higher, but by 10%, which draws a much finer line between the perfect serenity of MK and the scum filled streets of London.
Crime Statistics: ALL CRIME for Milton Keynes Apr 2005 - Mar 2006

Why would anyone want to live somewhere you cant drive with out paying through the nose, or some woman looking at you funny cos your ruining the future enviroment of her precious little daughter, and anything but a "local" pub want 20 quid to walk through the door!
Then you find a flat no bigger than my garage is 350,000k! with no parking!
Not for me thanks, ill stick to open countryside, "normal" house prices and somewhere a night out is 40 quid not 200!

Ruining the enviroment? Does that mean enviromentalists only live in London or something. Its the countryside that you find most of the eco nutters.
£20 to get in a pub? Where is that then. Bundles round here, normal enough prices and certainly no "entry fee"
I guess London and countryside are very chalk and cheese, and while I love the countryside, I also like the practicality and ease of life of living in London
Oh, and when I want to be in the countryside, its a 20 min drive to my nearest open roads, country pubs and open fields. best of both imo

Fair enough mate, maybe i have a slightly blinkered view, but im a northener so im bound too!
But isnt the cc zone getting bigger by the year?
And as a result isnt everyone who lives in it starting to bleat on about saving the enviroment as a way of justifying being priced out of their cars?
And how can you price people out of picking their child up from school, or going to work when the public transport is sh1tty and overpriced?
Roll on the humourous character that is borris johnson, Ken livingstone is a tw@t!
I guess we feel slightly different on this one mate!
p.s well done on the diet thing, that a lot of weight to lose my friend

lol fair enough mate, your entitled to a view. I remember being in a shop back in the early 90's in Wales, and the little girl of the shop keeper telling us she would never come to London because of all the IRA bombs we got on a daily basis.
CC zone is proposed to get bigger, but then on another point of yours Boris the dude has different views on a lot of things inc the CC.
The CC is not enviroment based apparently, but discounts are given, and a lot more cars now get free roam thanks to their lower emissions. Businesses are the worst affected by CC, most commuters use trains and buses oh and stinky tubes lol. But thats a far more effective way to commute anyway. Just needs addressing, as Boris promises to
The pricing of public transport is not tooooo bad (gulp did I say that) but the whole bias to Oyster card users is very wrong. Travelling for some is a spur of the moment thing, so why should I have to pre pay!
lol cheers on the weight loss thing too mate I put it down to not being able to afford to eat, and being too scared to go out shopping. As well as it being too expensive to drive. And not wanting to leave my house incase its broken into

You should stand for Mayor if JC wont do it, I reckon you'd give Boris a run for his money and if you got in you could stick Ken in the tower for being a snivelling little wretch who's done f*ck all for London

As for Ken............. If he was bloodied red Ken, I would like him much more... Complete muppet with his OWN agenda, just like Lonely Blah did when at No10

lol that was quick, I thought you were gone. Then realised you had nowhere to go? I guess.
Oh dear, spelling issues now eh. The point is getting weaker by the moment.
If I thought you had any brains I would have written it correctly for you, but I was trying to use non complex words.
As for the footprint comment, whats that got to do with weight anyway. Fatter people have bigger feet?
aaah well keep going troll
I will leave you there, but thanks for the humour none the less. I now feel a much more worthy person, knowing people such as yourself exist.
