Just spoke to a mate who owns a house in MK, and has lived their all his life.
Said he thinks its a sheeeeeeeethole, and LOVES visiting London.
Culture, life abd varierty are just the tip of the reasons he loves London.
How opinions differ lol

Snazy, you're right, London is a big place - like a collection of villages.
Leslie, I didn't catch where in London you came from, so am not sure why you don't like it.
As for the original £400 for a few drinks, all I can say is a fool and his money are easily parted.
Muswell Hill - lovely atmosphere, fab shops and a village feeling. The right sort of people live there. We should all aspire to live there!
It seems that most people from outside London don't realise that there is more to London than Oxford Street and Leicester Square. Get out to the suburbs, become part of the community and you'll see.
Would I swap Finchley for Milton Keynes - you've got to be kidding!

The worst thing about London itself now is that I get a headache from the traffic fumes within 30 minutes or so since I am now used to West Country air. Of course it is an interesting city with so much history boumd up in it. We did visit Greenwich just after Christmas in fact and it was fascinating just to walk around that place.
Hersham was almost like being in the country when I was a nipper and there were lots of things for us to do as children from fishing to racing around on go carts made out of pram wheels in the local heaths etc etc..
Liike Pete Brant, I would not prefer to live there now rather than here in the wilds of Devon.

i can't believe you're all flogging this dead horse still
People choose to live in London for their own bespoke reasons and it would be unreasonable to expect non londoners to understand why.
Personally, the mere thought of visiting Milton Keynes sends a fearful shiver down my spine, but it doesn't bother me that loads of people disagree and actually live there.
Okay, everything is more expensive in London and if you don't know your way around you'll pay even more. I think it is worth it and mine and the g/f's income is above average, so it's not a problem for us.
If there was a scoobynet meet in the west end, the native londoners could put together eats and drinks so we'd all be well fed and smashed for under 50 notes each.
not sure if i want to meet you all though
live and let live
