God i love this forum. We have some guy writing his side of the story and most of you keyboard warriors are writing such laughable stuff. The fact that you come on here asking for advice means you aren't man enough to deal with the situation yourself. There's two sides to every story.

Maybe his dog is unsocial or maybe your daughter doesn't like dogs and came running in scared of it. My sister's kid is terrified of my staffy yet he wouldn't harm a fly. Then you tell this guy to keep his dog away and obviously the guy is going to think your overreacting. Do u really think he's gonna allow his daughter to be friends with yours if you want to report him to the police? doh!

Maybe your completely in the right about this but most people would simply deal with it themselves than asking advice off people that live on here 24/7 and have lost touch with the outside world.

Tricky situation - you and the neighbours need to make his life hell in whatever way you can so that he moves away, that is the outcome you want.

You all need to get together and gang up on this chump - inform the Police what is happening and hassle them a lot until they do something about it - tell them that you and the gang of neighbours are going to take matters into your own hands - the cops will soon be round there.

Its easy to say this, and I doubt I would do it, but the thought of slamming a baseball bat into his nose when he threatened you is nice.

Or just kill his dog - I'm a dog lover, but sometimes strong action is needed and t may be enough to break him.

Only just seen this Lesley and have not read all the posts.

I think you have to take posirive action both for your daughter's and your own sakes.

He sounds like an unprincipled man with litlle self control and he must not be allowed to continue like this. Maybe he is tryi to get you all to move so he can get the whole property.

Paul suggested getting together with your neighbours and all reporting his behaviour to the police which is a good idea. You also have an independent witness in the computer chap. Might be worth getting it in the local paper too somehow.

Anything to publicise his behaviour and that he is left in no doubt by the police that any more of that will lead to real trouble for him.

Maybe my Mini Cooper at the back of the line of 10 Scoobies might help too

Les

2 choices

1. go the police route
2. leave it a little while and have some bad chaps start against him "out of the blue"

the problem with 2. is people who say they will "sort it" 99% of the time talk complete and utter bollocks and will let you down, i had trouble a few years back with a gang of drug dealers and after i admittedly did a bit of a silly thing and smashed every single one of the head dealers windows i then asked for the "backup" i was supposed to have available, and was dropped right in the ****

after hearing from people in the street that anybody who put me in hospital was getting 50quids worth of drugs from the dealer (was a reasonable amount of money was i was 17 tbh lol) i learned a valuable lesson, "if i cant sort it myself, let it go"

had gangs of lads driving about around by our old house smashing up cars and houses looking for me (good job we had moved) 2 years later i was team leader at a ford dealership valeting team and one of the scroates came in for a job and got a shock

never had trouble since the gang grew up and mainly dispersed, but i wouldn't leave my car in the street as i know they will attack it, its just a shame that my little brother lives 3 doors down from them (he has also knocked one of them out lol)

Nice idea - screw his business right up. "Would you employ a builder who threatens to punch women?" He'd be boycotted by every housewife or girlfriend in a hundred miles. I like that one

You know what I would do? Invite him and his partner over for evening drinks to your place.
Nice as pie... Be confident and self assured when hosting and let him know you are not in the least bit scared of him or his dog (or the irish staffy).

I have done this a few times when wannabe bullies have "come for me"... I have gone looking for them, but controlled it in a friendly way. I did this a while ago when someone grassed me up for grassing up dome drug dealers when it was them and not me who had grassed them up (if that makes sense)... Word got round they were "looking for me" so I went looking for them on my own. Found them, had a chat and not long after the real grass was being dangled by his ankles from a railway bridge...

Doing this depends on your strength of character and ability to "get into character" along with a "gift of the gab"... You dont have to really like him at the end of the day, but if he knows you arent scared, and that you can all get on with a bit of give then who knows

Alternatively, get the SN possee , or some friends of friends down to warn him to wind his fat neck in... Remember aswell, if he is self employed, there may be more legal ways than beatings to sort him out... The taxman is always keen to investigate labourers who are doing jobs for cash It's hard paying the mortgage on a converted barn when your business is being wound up by the inland revenue

The SN heavies will sort it for you ......... would he take any notice if you waved a SN Infraction in his face? Or would he simply claim it was unjustified? Maybe even taking on a new identity

Joking aside, I would tell the Police - say that the dog will attack soon, say he has threatened you with violence, set up a video camera aimed at your front door (just behind your head) for when he comes around to threaten you again.

As the camera cannot see your face - just mouth without sound "**** off twatface" ...... he will respond with a barage of stuff which will all be on camera - then nail the ****!

don't poison the dog, especially in the sadistic and idiotic way someone suggested by using a sponge as i think the fella might go off the rails, i know i would , and i am not mental. as for the gangsta violence threats, be very careful as you could end up going down a road that you or your family wish you never did, realistically, if you cannot live with this nutter as your neighbour, then you need to protect your family, violence and families do not go together and short of hiring a hitman, your only option is to think about selling up and moving away.

So, how many cars are turning up with the drivers dressed as SAS
I need to make sure Sal is here so she can check you all out

Seriously, thanks for all the comments, much appreciated. I'll let you know how I get on.

Oh and Spoon, he would not build a step so I could reach the letterbox, but I have found a potty. I could fill that up then just tip the contents in that way, yes

Sorry but Spike Milligan, Peter Sellers and Harry Seacombe have all gone to the big radio theater in the sky.

Try hitting him with a cold batter pudding or a heat seeking Tuscan salami!

Sorry to hear about this, Lesley. His verbal threats are bad enough to report him to police. I can understand that it's a bit tricky to take this kind of action against an unpredictable idiot like him, but sometimes, one just has to take the bull by it's horns. Has Mister 84 shown his shotgun to him yet? Mr.84 needs to tell him that he will be the next pheasant in your oven, if he carries on like this!

Sorry to read this, to reiterate what has been said previously. Join forces with your other neighbours and keep a log of all instances of harrassment and abuse - witnesses are a big plus where possible. Also talk to the police and make them aware of your problem.
His dog would be of concern to me. It may just be friendly according to him but any dog of that type that is not under control by it's owner is a potential threat if it turns or gets territorial. Specifically make the police aware of your concerns towards the dog.
Hopefully your chat with the coppers will be productive and will provide you with advice and a platform for dealing with this idiot going forward.
Hope it all works out for you!

Police have been brilliant, can't fault them. It has been very quiet today, not sure if that is a good sign. I am not frightened of him, I am aware you lot would take great delight in coming here and revving the engines to wind him up. I must admit, that thought still appeals. I may organise a Scoobynet Massive Hit Person BBQ
I have a number from the Police for rapid response as Mr 84 is often away and to be honest, is half the builders size, that will come in handy.
I'm working at a farm tomorrow, I may have a quiet word regarding a shotgun
