No it has to be the 205 Turbo it made all the other cars of the era look slow however the Ford Escorts won most rallies I believe

In my opinion McRae. There are times when I dont think anyone could have driven the cars he has any quicker. It was just always to the absolute limit with 100% effort. you have to admire loeb as he is obviously one of the greatest ever, but the cars are easier to drive these days...you cant help wonder how he would have done back in the day when you had to throw the cars about?? I know despite this he's still amazingly talented as a driver, but still...(I am Scottish so very biased)

Hannu Mikkola for me was the best of his era, my first international rally was the scottish in the early eighties, he broke the track rod end on the quattro on the first stage and drove out backwards,he was ten minutes behind the leaders, then went on to blitz the opposition over the next four days to win by a mile! the sound of the 5 cylinder quattro was fantastic you could hear them starting the stages 5 or six miles away!
timo salonen was a great character too, he was a million miles away from the keep fit fanatics of today, he wore glasses , was a lb or two heavier than he should have been and he often drove his cars with a *** in his mouth!!! can you see any of our current drivers doing that- that takes real skill!!
