Having used Brian for decals before, he does an excellant job and his kits are first class.
whereas I can agree that 'prodrive' would be probably be unhappy with ,
the SWRT decal being used I would imagine it is too big a market for them to stop and it probably wasn't them anyway otherwise all the Subaru dealers who put decals on cars for customers would not be able to do it either due to the copyright {althought they do tend to do it wrong anyway }

I always thought and I may be wrong that if the items being copied was changed even in a minor way it was no longer copyrighted and could be used.

I do think things are getting blown out of all proportion in the usual SN manner

Who cares what they think? If it's true I'm not bothered, if it's not then I'm not bothered either.

If you are the kind of person that wants to complain about being carved up by what appears to you as a Subaru rally car, you probably have little or no knowledge of rallying so the first port of call when you do a Google search when you get home is likely to be Prodrive. Type in Subaru + rally and you get SWRT at the top of the list!

Not everyone realises that the car they saw is someone's wannabe copycat.

And on balance, if I were Dave Richards, I think I'd put a stop to it as well as it reflects badly upon SWRT and Prodrive.

Of course, he could always do a Man U trick and send the cars out with different logos everytime!

Sounds like two issues getting muddled into one to me, Firstly Prodrive have every right to stop copyright infringement of their 'Logo' & hence stopping the Fleabay traders ...But IIRC they dont actually own the copyright to the decal 'design' Subaru do. (but ill double check with our licencing guys)

& i doubt Subaru themselves have the time or inclination to take owners to task over a non profit act of stickering up their cars. Which is probably why the PR statement 'asks' owners to not do it.

& as mentioned in the thread over on Type R/RA Subaru themselves offered a decal kit as an option on all 555's

PS Re: Insurance, I do know of someone who made a 'total loss' claim with a fully livery'ed up car & that was undeclared ...as decals do not add 40bhp or make your car more attractive to car thieves the Ins. Co. paid out
