would you report an illegal immigrant?
#91
It would be easy to get another infraction right now by pointing out that getting this infraction kind of makes my point....but I wont.
I say it again, it's not an insult it's a view based upon the responses to the thread, afterall there wasn't much 'live and let live' going on. I guess the wider reasons for my comments are the constant right wing views aired on here, that go basically unchallenged, especially on immigration, too many people on here running around with their hair on fire, screaming about immigration, and blaming immigrants (legal or not) for all the country's ills.

So how does this sound - I am not an illegal immigrant, I am not entitled to any state assistance, but I would like you to pay me 20 quid a month so I don't have to work as hard. I would be grateful if you could chip in for my pension, and if you could pay my perscription charges as and when they arise I would be so pleased that I wouldn't insult your wife or give her any grief unless I felt the need........ Does that sound OK?

Feel free to discuss/argue your perspective with me - I won't infract you... I'll debate anything to the death.

I think the government has dropped the ball on immigration, but it's a sideshow compared to the real issues we face.
Why don't folks on here get more vexed about the bigger issues we face such as Global Warming (oh no that's a government conspiracy, because it doesn't suit us scooby owners), crime and justice, health and education for example.

But they get health care, police attention and fire cover.
They also use council services and can have kids that use all the above and then are no longer illegal here.
There has to be a definitive line somewhere.

I think global warming is complete pish. Nature will sort it out... she is far stronger than us mere mortals.
Crime - We can produce statistics to tie that to illegal immigrants.
Justice - diluted by PC bollox
Health - If we weren't treating the rest of the world, we could afford to look after our own, but fek them anyway - buy your own private health policy and look after number 1
Education - Get back to the 50's. If you aren't clever enough to have an education beat into you then you should do national service (and get shot before you cost me any money)
[serious mode]
Illegals do cost us a pile of money. You can nearly stomach that if they aren't harassing your wife.... check the OP comments. Agreed that there are bigger issues, but you need to consider the whole picture and not individual issues in isolation. Anyway - This thread isn't about education or the health service - Infraction point for side tracking

There's way too much Daily Mail headline driven hysteria going on, time for cool heads me thinks, if we're ever going to solve this 'problem'
There's also a fairly fuzzy line in some people views on here between legal and illegal immigration. Scratch the surface and what people are really upset about is cultural changes that are happening in this country, 'illegals' are just an easy target.

That was an extreme case. She must have received some form of health care to have been highlighted.
I'm no scrooge, but where does it end????

Would you be happy enough if someone followed you round Tesco throwing thier groceries in your basket, expecting you to pay and then taking their stuff home?

I don't want illegal imigrants rushing into our country placing huge burdens on our public services, but I strongly believe that these 'effects' are hugely exaggerated. This is a huge issue all over the developed world, and as usual we only want to try and treat the effects and not the causes of immigration. If the developed world got serious about lifting people out of poverty then the problem could be hugely reduced (a bit of a lefty moment there ...sorry)
In the US they were going to crack down on illegal immigrants, until they did the maths and realised that their ecconomy relied heavily on them. I'm sure to some extent that must be true here as well.

The point of this thread is that there is a potential illegal harassing this guys wife. I've been harassed by next door chavs, and if I could have had them deported I would (executed was an option at one point). When you get down to solving world poverty.... why should I personally give the tax man more money next Thursday. I look after my family. I pay for healthcare, I work hard to make my business sucessful, I pay for pensions, I pay for insurance. Why should I expect to work harder to look after someone elses family as well?

My Mrs has received a bit of verbal abuse tonight from a girl she knows. It turns out that the girl is probably an illegal immigrant who's outstayed her visa. She's really mad and says that if it turns out that the girl is illegal she'll report her. I said not to, make sure you've got you facts right first and then think about it before acting rashly.
So, would you report someone if you were in a similar situation?

No one should be forced to pay for others but their family; especially, not for illegal and out of order issues. Never mind illegal immigrants, people will soon be crying when they have to pay more council tax in England to help for the elderly's care. Hope everyone would think empathetically for their parents and grandparents, then.

Well an individual isn't 'expected' to contribute anything to the issues you mentioned. I don't want to get into an unsightly do-gooders game of charity 'top trumps' here. I do my bit, what others do is up to them.

No - If he won't pay 100k, but would pay 20 quid, we have ascertained that he has a limit on his consideration of charitable contribution. All we need to do now is establish what the limit is, and then send the sick homeless immigrants round to ask for that amount. Seems simple to me
