I dont know anything about the phone call, i hope to God that she wasnt even aware what happened to her. Her poor body was so beaten up, the coroner said it would have been an instant death but i cant help but worry about it.
She had been in a crash a couple of years ago and said she would never go in the car with someone who drove like that again, i guess she changed her mind.
I know its wrong but im glad the driver died, coz i may have killed him myself!

I wish i could just have protected her more, but i guess its a chance we take every time we get in a car. The only thing we can do is make sure the person driving is not an idiot!

I heard that from my dad, hes not usually inaccurate hence why I mentioned it.

I will ask where he heard it from.

it may have of been the other female passenger.

where are you from?

Kellcar,

Im very sorry for your loss nothing ever comes close to losing a family member, especially one as close as a sister or brother
But dont put this down to the type of car, your sister died because of an idiot driver not a make of car.
If you enjoy what you do then carry on doing it if you dont then move on to a different job.
I just hope that in some way you can "enlighten" young drivers about the dangers of inexperience and that you dont need to get to A-B in the quickest time, especially with passengers

A driver killed your sister by hitting a Subaru, not quite the same as a Subaru killing your sister.
Deepest sympathies on your sad loss.
And the same to the famillies of the other victims.

hey james,
i asked and apparently Nat did text her boyfriend to say that carl was driving "like a ****", so i guess your dad is right again! I hope you dont think im being insensitive by talking about it this way but it kinda helps. I still cant believe its my little sister im talking about. Ill miss her.
Im from Kent by the way, grew up in Ripley though.

not at all, sometimes talking to strangers is a good outlet. (apparantly) and it makes sense that you would want to talk about it.

does your family still live up here then?

Hi Kellcar

Really sorry for your loss as already said it's the driver that kills not the car. I'm local to (Heanor) and both Chez and Aaron who were in the Subaru are members on my site midland-scoobies.com
They are doing ok, theres some hospital updates on the forum. So far both of them have had several operations including a 5 hour one for Aaron.

Theres been loads of press coverage here, all over Ripley/Heanor news. Don't know the driver other than whats being passed around here locally, i'd heard about the text message to amongst alot of other things not for the internet.
The road in question is one i drive most days the bend in question is barely noticable at 50mph in my works van and the road is a 60mph road, theres been several cars in fields etc around that 1mile stretch of road but nothing like this, really is very sad and such a great loss of life that really shouldn't have happened.

Best Wishes

Dave

I would like to echo all of the sympathies of other posters.

Unfortunately accidents can and do happen. Boys will be boys however we must try and learn.

Around our way we have more than our fair share 4 or 5 youths in cars and fatalities, such a sad loss of life trouble with Testostrone and in a "Gang" it brings out the show off.

"Young/inexperience" drivers should have a "P" for 2 years and only allowed 1 passenger unless accompanied with a Parent or a Driver with 10 years driving

IMHO

Tony

PS

ALL the people will be traumatised by these events and will be quite some time before they have any normallity in their lives, so look after your folks.

I know you may not agree with me but "Karls" Parents will have as much grief but twice the amount of Guilt, there are only loses in all of this carnage.

Thanks to everyone who has offered their sympathies, it's appreciated. I know it was the drivers' fault not the Subaru, i just thought it was weird that it was a Suberu, what are the chances? Considering i work for them, i guess its just a conicidence, a ****e one none-the-less.

I hope its a lesson to all the people out there who think they are invincible behind a wheel! New drivers just think they know best and its unfortunate that it takes something like to this to knock some sense in to them. But i suppose it wont be the last incident of this kind.

how many subaru's are in this country? a lot now if it was one of the ones you had done work on that would have been a serious coincedence, but it will still have just been a coincedence. the car in the accident was a classic impreza import iirc btw.

Hi Kellcar,
Another message of deep sympathy for you and your family - I have lost a brother through a car accident (very different circumstances and not his fault), and a husband (through illness not accident) - you may never 'get over' this (stupid expression) but you will learn to live with it better than seems possible at the moment. Just grieve in your own way and don't let anyone tell you how you should be feeling.
About the job - just do what feels right for you, but don't rush into any decision. For me, getting this car has been a way of getting my life back on track and enjoying myself again; I just love my subaru.
Thinking of you, Lorraine

Hello, its Chez here I was driving the Scoob that was involved in the accident!

Kellcar I'm so sorry for your loss, it must be awful for you, but the accident wasn't my fault, I wasn't speeding and there was no way whatsoever that I could have done anything to avoid it.

The Seat just came from the opposite direction round the bend on my side of the road. I'm still getting flashbacks of what happened - it was horrific!

I got out of hospital yesterday - I've fractured both feet, wrist, collar bone and 3 ribs, also got bruised lung. My fella i still i hospital - hes bruised his heart and lungs, fractured his wrist, and has had to have some of his bowel removed, plus more stuff.

Thanks for all the get well wishes.

Hi Chez glad to see your out of hospital and that your partner is recovering.

Kellcar you have my deepest sympathy for your loss. Its always best to talk about these things rather than letting them build up inside you.

Best wishes to everyone involved

Chez, I know this is probably not what you want to hear, but I had an horrific accident about 8 years ago (I was driving), which involved me being forced into a ditch and the car cartwheeling 4-5 times. I still get flash backs now and am aprehensive about being a passenger in a car that is being driven fast.
After the accident I couldnt bear to be in the drivers seat of another car, but fortunatly my dad kept insisting that I had to do it! I am so glad that he did, otherwise I dont think I would have had the confidence to be driving now.
Please dont be affraid to talk about what has happened. It does help, Honestly

Langwith dad remembers son victim in fatal car crash - Mansfield Chad

another article about the driver of the seat carl holland.

qoute..." The two Subaru occupants from the Nottinghamshire area were taken to hospital, but are not thought to have suffered life-threatening injuries."

Not thought to have suffered life threatening injuries.

They are not dead! no! as for no life threatening injuries, WTF do you call a bruised heart and lungs etc.

Maybe not life threatening now but defo life changing!

As for the "gentle giant carl holland" Maybe he should have lived up to that and been a little gentle on the pedal! Nothing gentle about the impact its had on so many involved!

Hi Cheryl,

I know it wasnt your fault, i know it was the chav idiot who was driving my sister in the Seat, im sorry about everything you and your boyfriend have had to suffer. I keep going over in my head what i i imagine it must have been like for Natalie, which i know i shouldnt, but for you to have suvived must be an ordeal in itself. I hope in time all your wounds heal, both mentally and physically.

This is another arcticle about the crash (well mostly the pregnant passenger natalie) she leaves behind three sisters.

Not trying to be a tw@t but there's no mention of any brothers.

Kellcar are you her step bro?
kellcar never said it was her brother?

what a sad sad story, scumbags like the Seat driver always seem to inflict as much pain and suffering on others when they die in bad accidents like these

Deepest sympathy goes out to all involved.

Kellcar very sorry for you loss and I hope you stay where you are with your job. There are so many ifs and buts when things like this happen.

Hope you get well soon Chez and pass on our thoughts to your partner.

I have just got my first Scooby and some of my family think I am mad/immature as it will eventually be our family car (when we have kids) but this just shows how strong/safe thy can be. I bet they wouldn't have battered an eye if I had got a Seat.

This is what my car looked like before and after the crash:

The main body of the Scoob has basically stayed put, its just the rest of it thats a bit battered. The roof had to be cut off to get Aaron out.

I'm definately getting another Scoob because that saved our lives by not crumpling up into nothing and also because of how great the Subaru community is. I'm having harnesses put in as well, because the seatbelts are what caused most of our injuries.
Gosh lucky anyone got out alive
