"First god damn week of winter"
I'd worry about a remake of The Thing. The problem is these days they go for a wider audience so everythings dumbed down to get a 15 rating.
Look what happened to the Rollerball remake, that was one of the worst films ever made!
Think the Mad Max 4 is likely. Given that Death Race will be out shortly I think we'll see a flurry of car-themed films.

Debbie does dallas 2, oh hold on, didn't the sunderland football team do that last year!!!
they could kill 2 birds with one stone by doing freddie vs jason vs aliens vs predator!
there is a remake of the 1954 classic "the creature from the black lagoon" on its way this year, no doubt it will be another CGI fest.

The Thing doesn't need a remake.
Its probably THE sci-fi horror film. Aliens and Predator have been watered down with sequels and combo films. They've lost that edge.
My wife can watch all the Aliens and Predator films without looking away. She can't get past the dog in The Thing.
A remake will be all CGI, shakey cam, cliched rubbish - and they'll give it to some director that everyone except those in charge knows is a bit ****. aka Paul Anderson.

The rumours were that Brett Ratner was to do the remake/sequel.
It's odd that Paul Anderson went from directing a very good movie (Event Horizon) to making utter trash.

My thoughts exactly. Event Horizon is a cracking film. I'd be tempted to say its very british feel makes it that bit special (we make bloody good sci-fi)
Death Race is apparently **** and at least they took AVP2 away from him.
Still, being married to Milla Jovovich, I wouldn't care what people thought of my films

When I put a thread up about The Thing being remade, and it should be left well alone, I got sort of slated that The Thing was already a remake, it isn't quite, but it is based on a previous film
That said, The Thing is an all time classic and if any film is to be done re The Thing, it should be a sequel not a remake and then only if they get a top rate director & production to make it
