Its a korean looking ugly duckling that makes Jade Goody look appealing.

So at the min as it stands their are twice as many people that think the new shape impreza is an ugly duckling, i think T5NYW must have used his multiple user names to bump up the total for them that like it because from the start he wouldn`t have a bad word said against it
The people have spoke T5NYW

You should be a Political statustition (sp), making the figure fit
On the otherhand adding the ones that love it and the Juries still out that 67% of the Votes so only 33% hate it
LOL
1) in the last 18months there was a massive decline in Subaru sales of the Saloon (rumours were UK 2007 sales were 80% lower compared to 2004-5). People may say they prefer a saloon but that's not reflected in sales. So the hatch which should be better for WRC and aiming at a different Audience may turn around
2) I have bought 2 "Newage" saloons and now a possible Hatch owner. If you were to ask some "you hate the Hatch".... "Yes"...."So you would buy the saloon"........."No way, i prefer my Classic" or "i'd never buy a new Subaru anyway" so why target a car at people that won't buy it anyway.
3) I've seen the Hatch WRX and STi also driven both unlike most on here Yes i'd prefer a saloon
IIRC IMHO

I think the jury will be out for some time.
For the last 9 years I've had a saloon for 2 and a wagon for 7. Both classics and I love the classic. But I'm starting to warm to the new shape. I bought over here purely for tax reasons and the fact that the torque steer on the Focus ST [or XR5 Turbo as it's known in Aus] was feckin hideous. I floored the car in 1st and went off at a near 45 deg angle to the way I was looking. Salesman "Ah the torque steer......................you get used to that after a while", yeah right. So even being an owner the jury is still out for me.
On a driving front it is softer than previous but with some devious computrickery it goes round corners a damn sight faster.
Oh and it's got a bigger scoop![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I don't care for its looks at all, but if the STi and subsequent derivatives are a leap above the Blob/Hawk in terms of performance and handling, I won't care. I never really liked the look of Scoobs, seeing them as like an ugly bird who just happened to be the best sh@g you've ever had and was as dirty as a chimney sweeps jockstrap
Much better than a frigid, boring but beautiful Helena Christensen type. Plus, I can afford to run an ugly bird

Well I have driven the WRX and was very impressed with all aspects of the car round a special twisty lane route I know (salesman not with me). Then I got out, feeling quite elated, and looked at it and decided there really was something wrong with the shape.
Not driven the STI but studied it in detail at the Autosport Show. Certainly prefer the shape to the WRX, (apparently final design by a different stylist to the WRX) but was undecided about the ride height in particular (car on 17's). Then was kindly directed by one of Prodrive guys to the Litchfield car round the corner, sitting on 18s, with coilovers, and retro rear lights. That pushed all the buttons for me.
We will always keep our classic turbo which we have had since new in 2000. But the STI may well replace the Spec B Legacy (a seriously under-rated car). I believe a test drive in the new car may well seal it. But UK or import?
So - I like the STI!
I don't like the WRX!
I think there should be separate poles, because in the flesh, the cars look very different.

Haven't driven the STi but sat andf twiddled ***** in one before Chrissy. Nice but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to complicated for my liking. There are so many options to mess with the engine management etc. Like a beemer

The funniest thing about this thread is the ammout of people who dont like the car because its a hatch back and want a saloon ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
The fact that most people who bought a scoob in the first place came from hatchbacks (probably 3 or 4 previously) then slate it because the saloon is better
which for obvious reasons it isnt (harder to load up/lack of space/more arch intrusion), so as 90% of the market out there wants hatchbacks due to the practicallity, its a bit of a no brainer that you need to focus on that market.
Now mentioning focus, all those people who also said they really liked the new RS focus (remembering its a hatchback btw), well need I say more?
Tony![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
PS I own both a saloon and (2) hatchbacks
and have owned about 6 saloon cars and 10(ish) hatchbacks.

Although replace the WRX's 17" high profile to 18" low profile and some lowering spring and a remap, then it's nearly as good as a standard STi
