The Management is in the process of setting up an account with Just Giving, the same site that hosted the appeal for funds for the Air Ambulance after Richard Hammond's accident.

No matter where you are donations will be really simple to make

Ron and I have set a target to raise over £2000
We can only do this with your help!
The support that has been shown so far has been wonderful and we both thank you

As some of you are aware, Ron and I will be travelling to Germany for the 2008 German leg of the WRC. As part of our "official" tour programme we will be keeping this thread updated with our progress and encounters along the way. Nobody will be excluded, everyone is welcome

What many of you will not know is how Ron & Ron are aiming to relinquish you from your cash for our chosen charity "Diabetes UK"
Bearing in mind this will be mid-August and the height of summer, we are going to drive to Germany and back in full tux just like our namesakes Ron & Ron

The reason we have chosen Diabetes UK is that there are quite a few members on here that are Diabetic or are like Ron have a Diabetic child.

We are aiming to attract massive attention for this worthy cause and to raise as much money as possible. If any of you have any ideas for attracting further money and sponsorship please let us know

Over the years the ESC has always dug deep for worthy causes, we both hope you can do the same for us. So dont wait get your name down and how much you would like to sponsor Ron & Ron getting sweaty in WRC Germany 2008

Could we just ask, that if you have pledged on here, could you please do it through our JustGiving page. This way, we do not have the unenviable task of collecting donations from you + you know it is going to the charity, and not in our pockets.

The page is found here :-

Please remember to tick the 'GiftAid' box, this gives the charity extra money from the tax man .

Many thanks

Total Pledged to date £375 of which £55 is all paid up on JustGiving .

If you have pledged above, could you please pay via JustGiving, as it makes it a lot less painless for everyone concerned + you can see that ALL funds raised are going to Diabetes UK .

Bloody joke. Diabetes UK is every bit worthy as any other medical/mental illness charity. It really grinds against me when people like Ron and Ron try to help a charity and then are made to feel like what they are doing is not worthy!!! It's crap because so many people have diabetes and don't know it. I bet one of you lot reading this has probally got some sort of diabetes. A lot of people don't realise the serverity of it! People who have diabetes, has a friend with diabetes or a relation should know how difficult it can become having diabetes. I'm not saying it's the worst thing in the world and I'm not saying nobody else is worse off because there is people worse off. However what i am saying is put your self in the place of someone who has to inject over four times a day, jabbing their fingers and arms over four times a day at times. Now imagine that you are that person and you find out that there could be a cure. A cure which means no more injections, blood tests, worry if you have eaten something too sugary, making sure if you have packed enough needles and insulin for your trip, all these and a hell of a lot more.

"Was hoping there would be quite a few contributions"

So yes it's very disappointing to see the amount off people who haven't given any money to help us. Especially those who usually give a fair bit to help a charity.

Thank - you though to the people who have donated it's great to know that we have got some support. Between me, Ron and Ron we are working our nuts off to get as much as we can and raise as much attention as we possibly can. It's not like we are asking for much, even a fiver would be appreciated. It won't take you hours to register your name and the donation on the sight that was kindly set up by Ron. If you can it would be great as tescos say every penny counts

Please can you give a little because it would make a lot of difference.

I'm sure everyone who has pledged money (myself included) will log in to the site and complete the payment, however you can not force people to give.

Everyone has their own circumstances to deal with. and its their choice to give or not to give.

I hope more people contribute as i know you are all putting 110% into this, but the ESC collective are not a bottomless pit of money, we have lots of expenses and sometimes have to draw the line somewhere.

There's plenty of time before the event, i'm sure it will all come good.

Plenty of time yet mate

Robbie is doing a bit in his Schools Newsletter about your trip and He is going to tell his diabetes Nurse

The money will come don't fret and as Dazza said some people just don't have endless funds and the ESC has contributed LOADS to various charities over the years

Patiance your target will be achieved

I have not assumed that it is a bottomless pit as you have put it, though maybe i did assume wrong in thinking that maybe everyone can give a little.

Way I see it is if you don't ask you wont raise.

Easy Tiger,

I know the ESC has been lacking a bit so far compared to other fund raising activities but have a little faith.
As Phil says there is a long way to go before August.
What a lot of peeps on here do not know is that you have Diabetes and know only too well what it's like to live with on a day to day basis.

As my Daughter I understand your frustrations and the feelings this can cause but you have to appreciate that most of the people on here do not and ranting off isnt going to change this.

Maybe you're right about Diabetes not being considered as important as some other charities but that's why we need to raise the awareness so people do understand.

What you say comes right from the heart because you have to go through that ritual of needles, too much sugar, too little sugar etc. every day rain or shine.
For those of us fortunate/lucky enough that we do not have to endure this its hard to understand unless you see it right up close everyday

Frustrating as it maybe but every good cause has gone through the same problems I bet.

Robbie well done Fella. If you want any help Dads got my number

Nate & I may pull the odd windup from time to time but I do know the vast majority of people on here will support Ron & Ron if they can

For those that have pledged or are thinking of pledging I applaud you all as we are now up to £400
