lol cheers Dave.
Rob, have explored a few options, but the micro tears in the tendon are sadly not knots, so manipulation of the joint is not an option.
I have thought long and hard about the surgery. Given the long tern effects it has had on my well being, this is the good option.
If it goes wrong, I either dont come round from being under, or lose use of my arm. Such is life lol.
Heading off for the hospital in about an hours time, so the fun begins soon.

All the best Snazy. All my ops came like yours-just when you did not expect it-best way anyway. Its good to have a General. they start to feed the anaesthetic into the catheter in your hand and you wont be able to count to 5 before you are asleep. Next thing you know it is all done and no pain.
Enjoy the nurses!

I still got my right hand
lol
Cheers Les, had a general years ago, mad feeling aint it!
Actually not worried about the op itself. More the waking up (hate that bit) and the next couple of weeks.
Not sure how the arm is going to be dressed, or how they will restrict the movement. Some suggest cast, other a splint. Who knows. Guess I will soon enough.
I know im gonna be a grumpy sod for the next few days, so ignore me if I appear on SN in a mood lol

im back
minor complications last night so was kept in for the night.
operation was a success as far as internally goes, lots of dead tissue removed from the joint, and little bleeding which is not great. so six holes have been drilled in my bone to cause a bleed to help healing.
pain, well the high dose of morphine last night helpd in some ways. lol
now some slightly weaker pills for home. pain certainly returning now!
so thats me. full recovery expected in 6 months, scar approx 2-2.5 inches

going back in a week to see my consultant, have the dressing removed/changed.
2-4 weeks i can start using it again. 6 months should be back to normal if all has gone to plan.

I had to have a general a couple of weeks ago and felt really poo when I woke up from it. They gave me morphine as I was in a bit of pain, it's amazing how quickly it works
Hope the healing process goes as planned Snaz. How much longer off work? And are you getting paid???
