***** to Micra.

Old ones (93/94)with 150k+ were asking £600+.

Got a 98 punto with 75k, FSH and full mot for £500 after some searching.

Got it today and it's like a new motor. If it last a year it's a bargain.

Compared to some of the old Micras I saw for more money, I'll take the risk.

Citroen AX - cant believe this hasnt come up yet, very cheap, pretty damn reliable (easy to fix if it gies wrong), lightweight, great handling compared to all the other small cars.

1.0litre can get up to 60mpg if youre really gentle with the throttle, and 1.4 gt models go very cheap, and are fast.

FP -- good buy. Just watch the head gasket. They tend to use water rather than emulsify the oil, so if the coolant level starts dropping, and you can't find a leak, you know what it is.

However, ours ran for 3 years like that

It had a HG replacement a year ago, so should be ok.

Fingers crossed . It's all pot luck with cars that cost the same as a heavy weekend on the beer and a visit to a pole dancing club
