I've just been running in the new Brembo discs & Greenstuff pads on mine.
Standard stoppers really don't get much better than this.

I think they get rave reviews off those who are going up the ranks from say a Saxo VTR, wheras I had been used to Fiat Coupe turbos, Volvo T5's, Turbo Saabs.
The driving position was poor, with the seat far enough back the gear stick was too far away. The handling seemed ok but I cant see why it is held in such regard, didnt seem any better than a well sorted MK2 Golf GTI.

One of my mates got one of these about a year ago and I get the feeling he's not massively impressed.
Having been in it the performance is really nothing special at all, and obviously you've got the cheap and tacky French interior to put up with - however the seats were good.
If you're on a tight budget and want a cheap hot hatch then maybe they make sense, but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

It's all relative. If you're used to a 300bhp 4wd rally monster of course it's going to feel slow. However as a fwd n/a hot hatch it's great fun and very capable although having owned a 182 myself and a Saxo VTS I have to say I MUCH preferred the Saxo. More fun to drive and faster than the Clio when it was tuned a bit (160bhp can be had for about 1000 - 1500), almost as fast standard to be fair. A 1*2 doesn't respond that well to light tuning mods.
