I was on Tramadol for almost two years and only stopped taking it when it's pain killing effects no longer managed my pain. I suffered no withdrawal problems. While taking it the only problem I noticed was feeling constantly dizzy, but I am on quite a few other pills also so it could be one of the others pills causing it.
I now take Dihydrocodeine in place of the Tramadol. At first this seemed to work fine but the effect it has seems to lessen with time.
Side effects of medication vary from person to person. I chose to take these pills as I considered the pain killing capabilities outweighed the risks.

I don't doubt there are great doctors out there, but recent experiences for me and the wife means we don't trust ours at all. I won't go into detail but afetr 4 weeks of reporting symptoms to her doctor, MrsREV ended up collapsing and required 4 hours of emergency surgery. 4 hours that I spent wondering if I'd see my wife again and what I'd tell our little boy if she didn't come out of it. All of which could have been prevented if the doctor(s) had done the blood test she asked for on day 1 of presenting symptoms.

Have you tried asking for Oramorph from your GP? Ange had this prescribed after her two operations. Not related to your symptoms. She says give it a go.

I took 2x50mg 4x daily. A total of 400mg per day. I think that is the maximum recommended dosage.
If you do decide to take them I would start with the 1 pill 4 times a day and see if this has a positive effect on your pain and also to see if you are hit by any of the side effects.

I'm taking Morphine at the minute and have been having conversations with a suited spider wearing 4 pairs of great looking shoes while I sit and type.
I still have 75% of the bottle left so it'll be a cracking weekend.
Bint, read too much of anything and you'll stay in bed.
Snaz, hope you're well too.

Yeah, but it takes time. Consultant says Doctor missed symptoms, Doctor blames sonographer for missing symptoms, Surgeon claims to have removed certain things, Path lab says Surgeon didn't remove certain things. It's a mess.
Let the solicitors sort it, I think.

Can't say I don't trust my GP but I'd prefer to get a more detailed prognosis than a few pokes in the spine before I start shovelling pills into me.
Also got a box of Arthrotec 75 which I'm a bit wary of taking, arthritis pills for a 33YO and a list of side effects which don't appeal either!

I don't really have a GP, I have moved around a lot so just use private places like the Medicentres. Generally they seem to have reasonably good doctors. Some older GPs that have worked in practices for years can be a bit dodgy though.
I don't really trust my new GP though, can anyone else confirm whether a handjob and a rectal examination is necessary treatment for a sprained ankle?

I got prescribed these yesterday for a bad back too and after 1 last night I can say that I'll stick the discomfort for another couple of weeks till I get X-rays done and the results back!

sounds identical to my reaction to the morphine and GA, hence staying in overnight lol.
good decision not to stay on them though, especially if the effect is undesired.
im torn between pain and irritation at the mo, itching and aching like mad!

2 weeks time i should be out of dressings and starting to use it again. 6 months back to full strength and use and know how long term the fix is.
couple of months and should be fine under load etc. says to take it steady for best chance of long term fix.
im in no rush
