I must have become used to paying inflated London S/E prices.

Stunned silence from the lasses but I nearly wet myself laughing. What a star.

In my view fullsize glasses should have no more than 5% head but lined glasses should be liquid to the line, that's why they were introduced.

In the eyes of weights & measures act, serving too much in a glass is just as punishable as serving too little, think of drink driving laws etc and you can see why!

That is a really valid point, yet it does get on my nerves when in a pub, some feel they can give short measures. Generally the problem seems to be with lager/beer. I tend to stay in these days, but when I did use to go out, I would complain if I was served short. In my local it was never really a problem as they would top up, but usually they served it right in the first place. It was places I was not such a regular, that problems would sometimes happen, being told basically like it or lump it. It gets my goat that pubs etc. seem to feel they can flout the weights and measures law, while anywhere else where this law applies have to follow it to the letter.

I work in a shop and we must comply with this law. We sell certain items that have to be weighed or measured in store, and this must be exact, customer is paying for a specific weight or measurement, so they are entitled to that amount. If it is an item which is pre packaged, and has leaked etc, we must reduce accordingly as they are not getting the full amount, for the price it was originally. Not only is this law but it is only fair, you are entitled to a given amount based on the price you pay for said amount. We have budgets for the amount we reduce, but tbh, we would lose out more by stiffing people (loss of business/compensation etc) than just doing the right thing in the first place.

Just because we are talking about drinks, does not mean a law should be able to be just thrown out of the window. For example, if you were to go and buy a litre of oil, would you be happy with 95% of that, as it may save a company in the grand scheme of things? Probably not, so why should this be ok in a pub? All companies have targets and costs, but why should some have to follow a law while others seem to think it's acceptable not to?

I'd say it's very much like the film "Waiting"

Never f**k with people who handle your food
